About W.R. Bagley Nature Area
W.R. Bagley Nature Area is a beautiful park located in the middle of town, offering a peaceful feeling of being out in the woods. The area features well-maintained trails that are suitable for all seasons and many types of walkers and hikers. Visitors can enjoy a quick hike, cross-country skiing, or simply walk their dog on the various paths, which include mulched and bare ground sections. The park has a small pond and stream, with plenty of wildlife activity, including ducks that are used to visitors. While the first part of the park is wheelchair accessible, the rest has inclines, tree roots, rocks, and stairs, making it better suited for able-bodied visitors. Parking is easy, though there is a fee unless you have a UMD parking pass. The trails are gentle and offer scenic views, making it a popular spot for outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and wildlife watching, all within the comfort of an urban setting.

Beautiful trails and pond. Hard to believe this wilderness area is right in town and part of the UMD campus. Perfect place to hike or cross-country ski over lunch hour or between classes.
