We have had a great experience with day care and training at Augusta! Our dog struggled with walking on the leash, and with staying calm around other dogs. We have seen great results after going through the training program with Jillian. Our dog no longer pulls on the leash, and we have seen a lot of improvement in her reactions to other dogs. We are finally enjoying our walks together!

Augusta is the absolute best there is! You won't find a better dog groomer than Karen anywhere. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone in need of pet grooming or doggie day care.

Hired Augusta for in-home training to help correct some unruly behavior of our 1+ year old Vizsla. We found 3 things about this outfit: 1. They use "aversion" training - for us, the owner, Kathryn, insisted we use a "prong collar" - which is banned in several countries, plus a bunch of recommendations to "assert our dominance". 2. They espouse "dominance theory" in understanding dog behavior - and therefore all advice was based on this. This theory has been debunked by dog experts. 3. They charge for every interaction - they wanted about $1,000 for the 6-session "training program". When we decided to cancel the agreement, Kathryn informed us that the first consultation was a "training session" and insisted we pay over $100 for it. The initial training did not go well, especially the use of the prong collar. Our dog was becoming more fearful and unpredictable - as the use of aversion training often does with dogs. We started to do research and found that the prong collar is considered cruel and banned in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany and Austria along with several municipalities around the world. Further, that this was aversion training - that this type of training has been roundly debunked, and that this is all based on "dominance theory" which has also been debunked. In fact, we found a blog post on Augusta's own website for January, 2022 that laid out and exposed the perils of using both aversion training and dominance theory in training dogs. With links to the experts in each area. When confronted with this after we started training - which was leading our dog to become fearful and reactive - especially towards using the prong collar - she agreed to part ways - and refunded part of our money - turns out the first session was "charged". And, in reviewing their website after this interaction - the blog post on their site about "reward-based versus aversion training" was gone - replaced with a promo puff piece about their ongoing relationship and being featured on KARE11 here in the Twin Cities. Says a lot about how these people operate!

Excellent! Sam is the most Be Happy Dog Trainer we have met. His intelligence, knowledge and eager to take questions is so valuable. Wish I could be Sam’s friend everyday

First of all, Katherine. She is all about a good, clean, and happy facility. Secondly, Kathy at the Long Lake facility. She runs a smooth and positive facility for both dogs and owners. The day care dogs scratch at the door to get in. Third: the training area is clean, clean, clean. . My dog is happy to work there and is earning AKC titles with great scores.

Catherine at Augusta is a miracle worker! She had spot on training recommendations for our dog. Incessant barking, elevating the humans to the alpha were two biggies. In only a matter of days, our dog was doing exactly what we wanted him to do. We were shocked at how well he grasped the new concepts and how clearly Catherine presented them to us. Very impressed and very pleased! Highly recommend!!!!!!!

Absolutely love this place. It's her Home away from home for my dog, Emma Bear. Cathy and all of her staff, especially Robin, Carly, Jillian & Amy, are the best pet loving crew around. They love and give Emma the best care. I can't say enough great things about their care and attention to details. Their facility is very clean and organized. These people love and put the needs of dog's care 1st and make them top priority and definitely go the extra mile. Ellie does an incredible job grooming and taking care of Emma's nails. She knows each dog individually and knows their needs. Emma isn't just a pup at daycare, she's family to long lake.
