Unfortunately, this is another Macy's location showing its age with empty areas and few employees. It appears they're updating the store, but I'm not sure it will help.

I ordered NORTHFACE JACKET from online,so I went to the store today ,I wasn’t sure where to pick up so I saw the cashier (black lady) ,standing there with her headphone ,I asked her where to pick up my order I ordered online ,she pointed that way and to make sure,I asked which way,she was upset, she gave me this ugly look which an attitude,I’m like,if u don’t like working as a customer service, why work at the desk,I did not expect this from Macy’s ,so dissapointed..

I enjoy looking around Macys and met a lovely beauty consultant who worked for Clarins. I was interested in an item with Chanel and she handed me off to Lisa at the Chanel counter. Lisa did not want to talk to me. I asked her a question and she was short with me and her co worker walked away. She then proceeded to stand at the register and look out to no one. No one was at the counter, a gentleman came to ring something and she said go to another register, Chanel customers only and proceeded to stand there. I felt stupid and walked away and she looked at me and started talking to the co worker who came back. I’m done with buying Chanel at Macys this woman is mean.

Purchased suit today at the Southdale store. Jacket needed a slight alteration. I was told this store doesn't offer that service but the Ridgedale and Mall of America do. I drove to Ridgedale only to find out this service is offered 2 days a week during a short window period. I would have to come back then (a 70 minute drive for me), try the MOA (another 45 minutes driving today...if they honor it) or find someone else. Pathetic! Should have just left everything and bought my suit ensemble somewhere else.

If there was a way to give 0 stars I would. My son purchased an engagement ring at the fine jewelry department at the Southdale store. When he purchased the ring, he asked about getting it sized which they assured him would not be a problem. After he proposed, the clerk said it could not be resized and since we did not purchase the extra policy, we could not return or exchange the ring. We were not offered this plan at the time of purchase, nor were the ramifications explained. We asked to talk to a manager, who agreed to send it to their jeweler. We received the same answer. Also my son was unable to pick up the ring on 3 occasions since they did not k ow where they put it. Only to find it under the counter somewhere when we pressed them.
We took the ring to a local jeweler, who said it was “no problem” to size the ring and was able to have it completed beautifully in a couple days.
Do NOT purchase fine jewelry from this department! They only seem to be concerned with their sales quotas rather than any type of customer service. A very BAD experience for a very important purchase.

Things have gone a little downhill over the past 10 years here. The selection of items are nice but the staffing level is terrible. The lower level and top level to be exact. I shopped around the entire store and if you need help or need to check out good luck. I didn't see a single staff member on the top floor while I was looking at bedding and kitchen items. While shopping on the lower level I wanted to buy some toys and had to search around for someone to check me out. I was looking to try on a pair of shoes on the first floor and found an employee luckily but he told me he doesn't work the shoe department but would "try." Not blaming the employees at all. Clearly macys needs more staff. This isn't the first time I've had this experience at this location either. I've been shopping here for well over 10 years. Maybe move some people out of the perfume/beauty section and into other departments as that area is always full of staff trying to sell you things.
