Wonderful property in a charming town. Ely is well worth a visit and this property gave us all we needed and more. Wonderful having a walking path on site. We will be back!Rooms: If price isn't an issue/consideration their upstairs deluxe rooms are incredible and come with a private Jacuzzi tub thats HUGE.

The staff was exceptional! Every person we dealt with was friendly and professional. When we called in the reservation, I mentioned that we would need a pack and play for our infant. I figured we would need to have it brought to the room when we got there, but when I inquired about it at check-in, I was informed it was already in the room. This was much appreciated! We loved the kiddie pool since our kids are 8 months and almost 3.The staff at the restaurant were fantastic! Our breakfast server remembered our toddlers name from the morning before and did great taking our toddlers order.Overall a great experience, but the hotel could use some improvements. The mattress on the pullout sofa in room 244 was awful. It felt like you could feel every spring in the mattress. The bathroom also looked pretty dated. The carpet going down the hallway to the conference rooms looked either really dirty, or just plain worn out.Overall: A wonderful experience! Would definitely stay here again.

Will not wait another 10 years to return. will be back this summer for sure.Rooms: Clean and spacious. Woodsy decor. very cuteFood & drinks: Great food!!!! Highly recommend.

The food and drinks were good. The service was small town chit n chat with an open lobby that was clean, organized, and helpful for things to do around the area.

Friendly greeting upon arrival. Room clean and ready on top/2nd floor and it was quiet with view of Lake Shagawa.TV worked and had many choices of stations. Bed comfortable with smooth linens. Plenty of towels and nice heater/light in bathroom.Made reservations for 5 meals - delicious food was quickly and graciously served. Glad we stayed here and we look forward to returning when we are in the area.Rooms: We were on the 2nd/top floor- very quiet, clean, good bedNearby activities: Enjoyed the 2nd annual film festival at Ely's Historic State theatre plus shopping at Piragis, Mealey's and Log Cabin CoffeeWe also attended the youth hockey tournament at the Ely Ice Arena. Lunch at the Good Ol' Boys bar/grill in Tower was a favorite of our stay.Food & drinks: Wide choice of entrees; the chicken wild rice soup is the best! novel coffee, hot chocolate and hot cider drinks plus excellent brandy Alexander and grasshopper

Went here for my wife's Birthday. Excellent place to get away from everything. Very clean and cozy with good service. The on-site restaurant was also very good. With a nice menu selection and also good bar. The one issue I had with this place was the snow-mobiliers coming in out of the snow smelling like oil and gas and filling up the place with fumes. The smell only lasted a little while but was nauseating at the time. The should have a separate "mud room" area for these people to come in through.

My family and I had a great time here! It was our first time in northern Minnesota and we really enjoyed the Grand Ely Lodge. The rooms were great, the bartenders were super friendly and helpful, and the views from our deck was amazing. We loved the pool and game room, too.

This place is a nice getaway for families and couples. Celebrated our anniversary here. Rooms are nice with a beautiful view! Bed is comfortable, pack-n-play available free if charge. Restaurant is located in the lodge but definitely make reservations because they fill up quickly. Reasonable priced for the rooms for the length of stay. Zero complaints!

We stayed in a downstairs room with a whirlpool next to the bed and a sliding glass door to the back of the building. Gorgeous view. The only downside as the musty/damp smell - likely from years of use if the whirlpool. That tub was a great help to my mate's back and neck, which us why that room was chosen. The food in the lodge is wonderful, but get in early as the whole town seems to eat there.

We stayed here last year for the first time, this is our second visit. We love the place, staff, atmosphere, food/drink, service, location, etc.I always ask for the top floor at every place I stay so footsteps above don't wake me. Here there is a lovely Lakeview, top floor. The problem is the water pipes in the wall...LOUD. The kitchen must be below us. We can hear pots being banged around and EVERY time they open a water valve (every minute) it sings in the wall right behind the bed. I wanted to take a nap today, didn't happen. It is now 9pm and you can hear the pipes singing. Sometimes it sounds like someone playing a flute, one long single note. I'm only here for the one night, otherwise I would ask for another room.If you stay here be sure to ask for top floor, away from elevator and ice machine...AND something down the hallway a few rooms. When you enter the hallway we are in the first room, #316.Update:Even thought I gave a 3-star review I have to update this to a 5-star. When things don't work out as planned the most important thing is how the company responds to your issues. As I stated, we had a dud of a room. I CHOOSe not to make an issue of this as we were there for only one night. The reply from the lodge is posted on the review, BUT they have contacted me privately and I can only say that Ely Lodge is indeed a 5-star, customer focused team. They did give a a partial refund, but this was never about the money. They choose to go above and beyond to provide 5-star service. I stay at a lot of lodges/cabins/hotels in my travels and Ely has proved they are in the elite category of customer service. Thank you for acting on your core values. I look forward to staying there again...soon!
