Good place to stay after a Boundary Waters trip. Rooms and beds are fine for the price, service was good, and it's in walking distance to downtown. There's some noise from main street traffic, but every motel in town will have that. Great value and will stay again.

Heaters broke while I was ice fishing, and they found me a room last minute. The best customer service! I'd give 6 stars if they'd let me.

Classic motor lodge aesthetic. Very clean and well cared for. Very friendly management was happy to suggest nearby attractions, outdoor activities, and restaurants. Excellent experience all around.

Phenomenal service and room! I drove into town around 5am and got stuck there, desperately looking around for lodging I finally got an answer at this motel and I'm so happy I did. It was -20F outside that morning and I still woke up nice and cozy! The owner of this place really is a wonderful person, thank you so much.

I come up to Ely often. Motel Ely has comfortable, clean rooms that are pet friendly and located within walking distance of many town attractions.

I came up for fall colors, this was the only place in the Iron Range and somewhat near the north shore that didn’t seem to be price gouging.
This motel, I didn’t expect to like it nearly as much as I did. To start out, it is immaculate! Better maintained than most new hotels. Everything seems to be from the 50’s other than the tv and air conditioner. The room I stayed in was in a wing of the motel that was built in the 50’s (I asked the owner what year it was built). The fact that everything looks like it was new was mind blowing to me. The decor around the room is a time capsule and charming.
The owner (I think) was super nice. She had some good suggestions and was honest about good places to eat and things to do around town.
Now for the down sides. There was no phone in the room for the in-room phone with free local calls as advertised.
Overall, the wifi was good. It’s in a good location. It’s quiet. It’s really clean. It has a color tv as advertised with air conditioning.
If I’m in the area again I’ll definitely be staying here!

Awesome place to get away from the hustle/bustle of the city life. We came up here for work and stayed at Motel Ely and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, customer service and location of this motel. I'm giving them a review because I believe they deserve it as a motel in a small town. The prices were more than fair and allowed me to remember them for another trip I have planned for next year. I will be bringing more friends and family up here to Motel Ely. Great place, family owned and operated, very clean and accessible. Quiet and safe.

Nice motel right on the main drag & within a couple of minutes of the International Wolf Center. Rooms were comfortable, staff was amazingly friendly, and check in/out was smooth. Easy access to everything else Ely has to offer as well.

This motel room was cleaner than some big name hotels I've stayed in and it smelled great. Front desk was so nice. Parking is easy. It's located on the same main street as everything else and close to everything. Also felt safe as a female traveling alone. The heater worked good. Big shower. Such a lovely place here. The owner was super nice. I was paddling the boundary waters and didn’t have my wallet with me. They were able to hold a room so I could have a hot shower and comfy bed couldn’t recommend this place enough.
