January 2024 by Ravn Thor H.
My name is Ravn Thor Hegland.I like to go by Ravn Thor.I am a proud mixed race queer pagan transgender man. I had the honor and privilege to work at Oasis Convenience and liquor up north for a couple months recently. I learned amazing skills, I caught on quickly. I was transparent in the beginning about my Autoimmune disease, and everything I had lost recently--my career into becoming a counselor, cohort, graduate school, unpaid internship, etc. Well, the owner, Sajid hired me on the spot. I was trained in by his daughter, Sana. Patrick is the other manager and he is a dad and busy all the time. I drove up there, and was late a few times due to weather conditions. I cleaned the bathrooms spic and span. I mopped the floors. The Manager, the white boy, named Cameron, typically just did nothing. No side work done. Amanda, who has worked convenience stores for years has health issues. She was given understanding and flexibility. Sajid only came to the store once. I told Patrick many things. He did not stand up for me. Sajid gave me a verbal warning for being late. I knew you have to be careful driving in these weather conditions, and ensure the place is de-iced with salt and so forth. It was almost as if I was just set up to fail. They won't fix the urinal because of some silly ghost story, or because of some other arbitrary reason.I made Reels on my instagram, promoting Oasis convenience and liquer, because It felt like a healthy fun place to work. I loved making the pizza and learning lottery and seeing the regulars and sharing a laugh. It brought me joy to fuel the Army people on drill, and the plowpeople during storms. The Oasis used to be my Oasis.Well, I went to HR, and that's Sajids white wife. Identities matter. I told her everything, how it wasn't fair that I was being treated this way when Amanda got to just take breaks when she needed to. I mopped the floors, i emptied the garbages, and I made great pizza---One man even waited 10 extra minutes for a hot and fresh delicious lunch. Thank you man. That meant a lot. =) But despite all that, despite going to HR, despite being honest with my coworkers, Patrick, did not stand up for me, HR never got back to me, and Sana--well, she graduated from NDSU. Sajid, Patrick, my Coworkers, and HR Amanda knew my situation. They knew how much I loved being there, and Patrick saw how hard I worked. Sajid chose to be extra hard on me for some reason. I was the one to make sure the mens bathroom was clean. Everyone deserves a good bathroom.Sajid, you're not running a good business. You're burning your good workers out, and that in turn will make your business suffer. It was an honor and privilege to learn and serve there.Thank you for the opportunity, but this was not okay. Not to mention...so many osha violations...I have some phone calls to make.Happy birthday to me. I am so glad I get to see tomorrow.Ravn ThorHe/Him/His

This is a great convenience store with competitive fuel prices. They have a lot of things you can get. Like Firewood, propane exchange, licenses, there is a small cafe with amazing food and ice cream connected. I suggest you go when Mida is working, she will test you the way customers should be treated! The people here were very professional and kind. All of that AND there is an attached post office(separate entrance) within the building. So much can get done just by going to this location. Not to mention, they have a row of old school candy for your sweet tooth!

I was in here about two weeks ago to get gas and was talking with the young gal behind the counter, when the young man came up and demanded that she started working. When the gal walked away I got in the young man about treating his coworkers with respect he started swearing and saying it's none of your business. If this is what goes on in this store I don't think I will be back.

outdated items on the shelves. i found stuff from 2 years ago. they make coffee at 630am and thats the coffee until they dump it for closing. the hot deli food is left for longer than it is supposed to be. they also dont time it so you wont know. i worked hard to get the store up to shape and clean and with good items on the shelves. all to be told i wasnt worth it. so dont be surprised to find outdated stuff again and a dirty store old coffee and food. sharing for public safety. no one should eat old food whether outdated or under the warmer for too long growing bacteria.

I saw this worker amanda on her phone video chatting while on work. She made fun of me for not speaking English. Wish I could contact management. I also saw her drinking a bottle out of a paper bag

Got charged twice when I paid at the pump, I stopped the next day after looking over my account. I talked to the person working and showed him my receipt and a copy of my account showing the 2 charges. He took down my information and said he would give it to the manager who would call me that day, week later no call and still out the money.
