“I found Joy while searching for a seamstress in my area to alter several blazers I had recently purchased. I requested an appointment through her business's Facebook page late one evening and woke up the next morning to a message from Joy confirming the appointment. Joy was such a pleasure to work with and I was thrilled with the plan for each blazer. She listened to me when I said I prefer silver over gold for buttons/pins for the jackets and even provided me with several options that she hand picked for me to choose from (I chose them all!) One of the blazers needed a lot of work to fit correctly (it is not an easy material to work with and had a satin lining) and Joy's skills shown through as the jacket looks like it was made for me!
Not only is joy a phenomenal seamstress, but an asset to our community. She gives back by spending her weekends teaching kids how to sew and hosting a fashion review for her kids to show off everything they've learned and what they have created.
There is no doubt that Joy will be my go-to moving forward and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a highly skilled seamstress!

“I’ve been to this store a handful of times in the last 6 months and I’ve absolutely loved every experience I’ve had here! As someone who is plus size, I can’t think of one time that I’ve been able to find something that I actually love and am excited to wear from a consignment/thrift store. But whenever I come here I always fine something amazing!! And for an amazing price too. My favorite part were the jeans because I am NEVER able to find jeans that I like and don’t want to order online at multiple different places and have to deal with returning them if they don’t work out. I was able to find so many brands of denim that I’ve wanted to try but wasn’t able to because of them being online, so thank you Cake!! If you wear plus sized clothing, you HAVE to check this place out. They also switch out inventory frequently so there is always something new. The employees are also so helpful and kind. They do require face masks (at least the last time I was there they did), so don’t forget yours at home!”

“Allure is fabulous! It had been at least 8 years since I had been properly fit for a bra, and Sarah was so fantastic. She was kind and helped me find several perfectly fitting bras that have since really helped my back pain, and my best friend has commented on my better posture and overall nicer shape in my shirts. I have already been back, and can’t wait to expand my bra drawer further. Thank you for creating such a warm and welcoming community for people with busts of all shapes and sizes!”

“Noticed a defect in a new Skol hat I bought from Sota at the state fair when I got home. Went to this St. Louis Park store the next day to see if they would exchange it. They didn’t have that specific hat since everything went to the fair, so he just made me a new one on the spot in 5 minutes. Best customer service ever. Love this brand. Love their people.”

I had previously been to multiple other vendors in the Twin Cities and the sales experience and especially the dress selections were really below average which made me anxious about ever finding anything I might like within my budget.Cue Anthropologie.I loved every single dress on the Anthropologie wedding website because the catalog looked timeless, chic, and elegant and this prompted me to book an appointment with a local store (which I was able to secure the same week). The dresses were a bit above my original budget, but what I saw online was so promising that I was willing to go above what I had in mind. Best. Decision. Ever.I nearly wept publicly from relief when I tried on the first dress in the store. The fabric, fit, and design of their inventory is UNMATCHED in comparison to any "traditional" bridal shops in the Twin Cities. The store associates were incredibly helpful, friendly, and deeply knowledgeable about styles. “Dear Mostafa,Thinking of you and your family and friends after the terrible earthquake in Morocco- please know all your customers care for you and your family.Dar Medina is my favorite shopping experience- the beauty of the textiles, purses and housewares overwhelms the senses. If that is not enough, Mostafa greets you as a friend with sincere hospitality- offers Moroccan tea for all who linger and you should. Over the years, I have purchased ornate stamped red purse and wallet purse, vibrant cotton throw, leather sandals with carpet inlay, colorful geometric rug and I generally am not a shopper! All of my purchases I enjoy everyday- even wear sandals in the house in winter. Mostafa has such incredible connections to friends and family who make these beautiful handmade pieces with love and soul in Morocco. Please help the Moroccan artisans who may have been affected by the earthquake and consider stopping by and shopping at Dar Medina. Jewelry of all colors and styles, purses, clothes, etc. Just be careful you don't spend your entire paycheck (the prices are very reasonable, but you might accidentally buy everything because this is such a fun store and I wanted it all)! The lady who was working last week when I was in was super helpful and found so many options for complementary jewelery for my new years eve look. I will be back here numerous times in the future, I'm sure.”
