We stayed there for three nights after Thanksgiving and it was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, breakfast was good, and location was perfect. Beautiful view of Lake Superior! 100%

OMG. Dog barking non stop for an hour when we arrived. Then at 9pm the couple above us were screaming and swearing at each other. They woke up their baby who then also started crying. There is absolutely no insulation here! You can hear EVERYTHING. I have never stayed somewhere this loud. People walking, using the toilet, closing the toilet lid and watching TV. We are stuck here for 2 nights totaling over $700. Absolutely not worth it! The staff was attentive both times I had to call them about the excessive noise. If there was another room in this town we’d be out of here! This place is a hard pass.Update. For our second night the hotel moved us to a new room. We were out of the pet friendly area. Our second room was amazing! Beautiful view of the lake and quiet. (Except for the crashing waves of the lake)Would definitely recommend staying in a non pet friendly room.

I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past. I come here to this location to visit family. The hotel views are amazing. The art and aesthetic are second to none. The food is always wonderful and plentiful. I very much enjoy my stays here.Rooms: The rooms are very clean and artistically, well designed and furnished.Nearby activities: You can walk anywhere in town from this hotel. A special highlight is walking to a rock outcropping into Lake Superior called artists point. There is also plenty to see downtown.Walkability: Once at the hotel, you can walk everywhere. There are some nice restaurants to enjoy. The view of the lake is exceptional and plenty of seats to enjoy your view.Food & drinks: I always love to have coffee or a warm drink whenever I come in the door. The coffee is very good. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. There were many.

I had an incision open up, and I called the front desk for a first aide kit. They don't have anyone working after 10 pm, but the person who answered said they'd sent someone over. In less than 10 minutes, the owner came in and even brought different kinds of bandaid from her house. She called places for us and eventually led to us the ER to make sure we found it. That says a lot about how this place is run. All the staff are super sweet, the breakfast was delicious, and the rooms are updated, very clean, and cozy. I will only stay here from now on when I visit Grand Marais and will recommend it to all!!Kris, if you see this, thank you a million times ♡Rooms: Updated, clean, and cozy

One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at. The staff is extremely professional, the location is unbeatable, the views are amazing, and the rooms are newly updated. In fact the whole hotel looks brand new.

I only stayed at the Best Western one night, but I wished I could have stayed longer. It was so peaceful there. If you want a place to stay at a place with people up all night and frenetic night life stay somewhere else. All the rooms face the lake and all night long I could hear the sound of the waves on the shore. That was wonderful. In the morning I could stand on the little balcony and watch the sunrise. That was wonderful.Check in was very easy and the young lady was helpful and nice to work with. The room was very pleasant. It was new looking and was done in pleasant earth tones. The carpet had a wave-like pattern in it. The bathroom had a walk in shower, which I am growing to appreciate more every year. The breakfast was in a lovely not too big dining area with a wood fire burning. They had the normal breakfast cereals, muffins, scones, also an egg casserole and many other items. The chef keeping an eye on the buffet was talking about a local bread that is served for breakfast with cinnamon and sugar. He said people were eating it as fast as he would bring out more. This area is a long way from where I live, but I hope to be able to come back and stay here longer.

The location, comfort, and service at this hotel cannot be beat. I have high standards when it comes to cleanliness and this hotel exceeds my expectations. The location on the shore is perfect. The whirlpool spa is an added bonus.A must stay for any North Shore adventure!

My parents who are elderly and disabled arrived at your Superior/Grand MArais location in MN only to find out they've driven 200+ miles each way only to find their room was given to someone else. they have been staying in and requested that room for 8-9 years. The local staff refused to make good on it and still charged them around 400 dollars for a room they couldn't use, I called corporate, but they cannot access the local transactions and she called the them and they refuse. Is this a hospitality business or NOT? I refuse to accept this level or disgusting customer service from a hotel that's charging them 400 a night. I have the corporate ticket number. Get back to me or charge back and attorney general time. They are not rich, this is a treat for them 1-2 times a year. The reason they were given that they couldn't refund is because the room couldn't be re-sold that night and my folks couldn't even get into the bathroom with their wheelchair, they left within an hour and turned the keys in. Also said that the room wasn't flagged as handicapped accessible because the one they requested has always worked well and they loved it, they tried to stick them in a basement room! They didn't even get an apology..**** Issue resolved, but it was incredibly difficult and time consuming, the facebook account reached out and refunded in full. Thank you for that.

Excellent hotel! We stayed in one of their shower suites and we could not have been happier. Rooms are large and you can hear Lake Superior at night when you have the door open!

We had two different rooms during our stay. The first was clean and felt very comfortable, and the second was quite filthy upon entry with a bad smell. The fire alarm went off the first night of our stay and we got stuck in the elevator for over an hour the second night. When we spoke with the staff (Owners) about these issues, they left me feeling like I was putting them out rather than responding with caring service. Left a sour taste on our otherwise pleasant trip.Rooms: First one was clean, other was quite dirty with a bad smell. Id say you are just as likely to get a poorly cleaned on as a nice room.Safety: Elevator quit working trapping us inside for over an hour. Fire department had to respond to get it going again.Walkability: 4-5 blocks walk from the heart of the shopping areas and restaurants in town.

Had a lovely stay in June 2022 with a 2 Queen bed room. The hotel boats an amazing view of Lake Superior and Artist point. The renovation work that has occurred in the rooms and lobby rivals well known chain brands in major cities. Room was clean and comfortable.

This is a beautiful location right on Lake Superior. When you enter you are greeted by the owners and a large beautiful gathering area where breakfast is served. Our room had a balcony facing Lake Superior, a beautiful steam shower, a fire place, and a king sized bed we never wanted to leave. Breakfast was full of great options from turkey sausage to lefse to wild rice cranberry bread. The lower level has a huge whirlpool and a workout area full of equipment. BONUS..1 block from World Famous Doughnuts. Perfect getaway no matter the season!Nearby activities: Folk Village has great entertainment on Saturdays. Plenty of hiking trails up the GunflintTown full of friendly people

We stayed just 1 night. Beds and bedding were comfortable. We booked our stay as this is a ‘pet friendly’ hotel. We reserved a pet friendly room - paid the $20 pet fee. Within the first hour of our arrival, I was confronted in a hallway by a staff member as I was walking my small dog (on a leash and not barking.) I was immediately questioned by the staff member if I alerted the front desk that I had a dog - and if I was a paying guest - to which I replied yes - and I paid the pet fee. He said I shouldn’t be in the hallway because of an allergy risk to other guests. I quickly picked up my dog, apologized and went straight to our room. We then kept our small dog far away from anybody during our stay. Yet during our stay, we witnessed dogs in the front entry, hallways and even in the dining/breakfast area the next morning! We travel a lot with our small dog and have had amazing experiences and interactions with staff at other hotels. Super unfortunate as we will not stay here again.
