It was very busy. Well worth the wait. Food was really good. Service was overall decent. With a beautiful view of the harbor as well.

Nice bar and restaurant. Appreciated the vegan offerings. Both my meal (fajitas) and my non-vegan traveling companion's meal (bacon burger) were pretty oily (even beyond typical bar fare) so we both had to stopped eating part way through. Food quality overall didn't match the price. I've heard the vegetarian burger is delicious (but not vegan) so may be a good option for non-vegans to try. Nice staff and atmosphere. Beautiful location

Get the root beer float, it was top 3 in my life! Also the service was amazing. We had a larger group and our server was very helpful. For example we had a baby that needed to have a bottle warmed up and when I asked for a cup of warm water, she brought a small bucket which worked way better.Definitely would come back!

We went here a few times over Valentines week and had some interesting experiences. We are from out of town and it became obvious that outsiders are not very welcomed here. Staff and locals sit at the far side of the bar and glare at people when they walk in. On Valentines night I ordered the walleye and below is what I received. It was very oily and had almost like a gel on the outside. The presentation was terrible. We sent it back and the kind bartender took it off our bill. Skip this place for food.

Overall our experience was not great, once we were seated in a not busy restaurant we waited close to 10min for our server to come over for our drink order, when we also put in our food order, another 10min went by and we got all our drinks, one which had bugs in it which they seemed not surprised about. The drink was remade. Once we got our food, some was cold, and some just overdone. Finally, when we got our tabs, a few groups in the party asked for change which instead of giving us our change, the server kept it as a tip.

I got an old fashioned and fajitas with smoked chicken. It was all tasty. I got their standard old fashioned. They offer middle or top shelf upgrade options for an additional $2/$4. Their basic old fashioned is good. The fajitas and their presentation were excellent. The portion is generous (4 large tortillas worth). The sliced peppers (red and yellow) were delicious in the mix. It comes with shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa. It would be better if they doubled the portion of salsa - and perhaps offer a medium hot option. The spice level is very mild as it is. The vibe of the Tavern is welcoming. It offers great views of the iconic harbor and Lake Superior out the large from windows. It’s a great place to meet up with friends or family. Free parking available on the street. I appreciate that they have nice tunes playing in the background and no TVs to distract from conversation.

Don't recommend the mussels. Salty. Lots of beards. Bread is cold, untoasted, no butter.Cheeseburger looked like it belonged on the kids menu. Kind of a bummer for $55 total.

We enjoy going to the Gun Flint Tavern on our visits to Grand Marais. Great selection of food and beverages and an awesome view of the bay.
