We CANNOT say enough about the level of excellence we experienced with Jenna. We began our loan process for a construction loan with very high expectations and Jenna exceeded each and every one of them. Jenna was so lovely to work with. Such a tough market to buy a home and Jenna made the process painless. It was my first home buying experience and she walked me through everything (sometimes twice ?). Would definitely use Jenna from Merchants Bank in Hastings for my future mortgage.

We love our service at Merchants. From Jeff in commercial lending, who never hesitates to answer our questions about non-commercial lending, to Bobbi in mortgage lending who made our past couple HELOC applications very convenient. Our experience is that the team at Merchants will go above and beyond to serve your needs. And they have some of the best rates for commercial credit cards that I have ever seen!Do yourself a favor and ditch the big banks where you're just a number with a high interest rate and head on over to Merchants to get your name and lower interest rates back.

Horrible customer service. I’ve had a personal account with them for 6 years and the company I work for has used them for very MINOR cash services. When speaking to customers in person and on the phone they are very rude and not professional.

Michelle is my favorite teller in all of the local nearby Merchants locations. They are easy to use and personable here. Super nice and always friendly. I'm happy I bank with Merchants and prefer the small bank experience. Plus they always have a dog treat in the drive through.

Avoid this bank at all costs. The customer service is horrendous. We've been with this bank for over 10 years, and everything is fine - until you make 1 mistake. When we attempted to close our account in November, they never questioned why or attempted to keep our business. They wouldn't allow us to close our account because there were pending charges coming in. We were having a difficult time disabling our automated withdrawals, but Merchants kept paying them, and adding NSF fees. They were unwilling to work with us - it was like they wanted the automatic withdrawals to continue so that they could keep adding NSF fees - $30 each. Our account reached $-710, and $300 of that was NSF fees. This week (the week before Christmas), they decided to empty my son's account, over $700. He is a vulnerable adult (he has Aspergers and is learning how to manage his bank account), and my wife was on his account to help him with it. I called Merchants and explained the situation, and that we would like them to return my son's money and we wanted to work with them to resolve the issue with our account. "Sue" from the main office in Winona was unsympathetic and unwilling to assist us. My son just started a job last month, and was hoping to use his money to buy Christmas gifts and he was saving for his first apartment. However now he has nothing. This has literally ruined Christmas for us. A caring and customer-driven bank normally works with their customers. At least a phone call to let us know what is happening would have prepared us for what was coming. This is not the first time this has happened - several times they have helped themselves to money in our account without authorization for various "fees". All of the tellers are clueless, when we call the corporate office we get transferred to voicemail boxes, nobody knows what is going on. This company is unethical and they know it. Anyone we speak with about this situation just wants to pass the buck or says there is nothing they can do. This bank will never see another dollar from my family. I hope the folks at Merchants, especially Sue and her family, have a Merry Christmas while celebrating and profiting from the misfortune of others.
