Used this company for years but the last summer/present conversation today, they have been rude, passive aggressive, and unhelpful when asking questions regarding their expertise on the services they provide. Luckily he’s retiring and putting the company out of business but would recommend looking elsewhere for anything related to landscaping while they are still around. Here’s how the conversation went just now “hi I’m working on a fire pit in the backyard and was wondering about rock prices/what you’d recommend for what we are doing” this is his reply “I’m retiring….” I respond with “ok well do you think you have enough rock to possibly be able to pick up a load before you shut down?” His response “I’m retiring….” I should’ve responded with “Ok boomer” instead of saying “damn you guys are rude when you could’ve just responded with a simple yes or no answer”. I can absolutely understand why they are going out of business and it weirdly brings me comfort. These kinda people shouldn't be running business’s that deal with customer service when they have no effort or awareness of how to talk to people! What a j**** Ended up calling “Duluth dirt” and had a wonderful conversation and just their patience and sincerity of helping makes us want to give them our business. Good riddance macs landscaping. Try to be better at talking to people. It’s not that difficult.Services: Landscape installations

During this time of statewide mandated mask wearing, I was shocked to see all three staff at this business including the owner not wearing mask when I went in to buy bird seed today (December 31,2020). I asked the owner why none of them were wearing mask and he laughed. I put down the items I was going to purchase because I will not do business with a business that is so purposely not following the mandate and not trying to keep others safe during a very serious and contagious pandemic. The owner then turned to me and said, "they maintain social distance". It is too bad as we have purchased all of our bird seed at this business and have driven out of our way to support small and local businesses. I will not support them any longer when a business is so willing to put others at risk during a contagious pandemic. Mask up people!

We discovered Mac’s by driving past many times. We purchased chickens at a swap then needed a place to buy supplies. We tried Fleet Farm first, but they ran out of what we needed, their prices were higher, and didn’t have some of what we needed. We saw beautiful bales of straw at Mac’s Landscaping Center, then we turned around and entered his yard. We were so surprised to see his prices were better, the quality was superb, they helped my husband put his straw and chicken products in our truck, and Mac was like your favorite uncle who laughed and talked, and gave you information on the products he sold we found out helped us greatly. Love doing business with Mac, and will be stopping again as soon as the grass turns green. Oh, by the way, Mac sells the best mixes of grass seed for every type of soil you have, I know, because I’m a Master Gardener planning my eleventh garden, floral, shrubs, and trees, even a hillside in progress. (Mac delivers quality Mulch, many colors to choose from). Thanks Mac from Don & Sharon in Duquette.

I called around for prices on black dirt. Mac’s was one of the lower priced places. I went there to get a load. When I pulled in there was nobody there, I went into the store and the only worker was on the phone and sounded like a personal call. He finally after a minute asked what I was looking for and I told him and he said he would meet me by the pile. In the 10 minutes I was waiting three more people came and went into the store. In those 10 minutes I was waiting I made more calls and found Duluth sod was cheaper so I left. The place looked real run down these days and I guess their service has too.
