This place is simple that's what makes it so amazing the product absolutely speaks and smells for its self I was driving up the north shore when I was enticed in through the smell of yummy smokehouse though the vents of my car! I immediately knew what was up ahead and knew that I had to stop in for my mom who is a total fish fanatic who's birthday it happens to be today, I picked up two types of fish and when I arrived at her house up on the shore she couldn't have been more appreciative and we are currently devouring fish and some white wine and reminiscing about all the fabulous things that Minnesota staple businesses have to offer our incredible community that you cannot get anywhere else in the world I am so happy to have picked up a piece of the homeland and appreciate all the feels I get when eating this delicate and comforting treat!

The best.Love this place, love the fish even more. Sometimes I plan entire trips to Duluth just so we can go here. Duluth is seriously lacking in quality dining experiences, but at least I know I can always grab a pound or two of perfectly smoked fish from Russ Kendall's. Never, ever lets me down. <3

This place is awesome! Do drive out of your way to get some of their smoked fish. Their smoked black cod/sablefish is simply mouthwatering amazing! We will stop by anytime we are again within 100 miles of Russ Kendall's Smoke House. It's SOOOO worth driving out of the way for excellent smoked fish.

Got a variety of smoked cheese. They were all so good! I'm definitely stopping in the next time I go through to get more.

Not a place that I would think of as a tourist staple (more local business) along north Lake Superior (ie not fancy decor/been there for years, etc). But my husband (the driver) insisted on stopping on our way down Scenic Drive. I was not impressed UNTIL I nibbled on some of the smoked lake trout he bought. Holy smoky! Ok, now I'm hooked and see why this spot merits stopping. Stop by and try it. Don't be a tourist on the North Shore, be a local!

They only sell large pieces of smoked fish, typically whole fish or fillets. I purchased a piece of smoked Black Cod (a pacific fish) and it was delicious. This is a To-Go place, you don't eat here

Stopped by as we drove the North Shore due to the great reviews. It was underwhelming to us but we do come from an area with several amazing smoked fish shops. If you have never been to get smoked fish then I would say definitely stop. We didn't buy anything at $9-$21/lb but again, if you've never experienced it then do it!

Yup this is the real deal. They have a great assortment of smoked fish and many other items such as cheeses. This is a must stop and see. Will be back.

I'm 67 and my grandparents took me there when we went camping In two harbors every summer from age 8. Stopped there with my parents. Took my 4 daughters there many times. They are all adults nowOh, and did I mention They have great fish?

If you hate smoked fish, stop here because Kendall's will change your mind. It's all they do, and they do it to perfection. Sugar smoked trout and salmon were spot on. A must stop every time we are on the North Shore. Go early because a lot of people feel the same way and it will be busy. Great business and service.

Best smoked fish on North Shore IMO. Usually get the Trout and/or Salmon. Cheeses and Salmon spread also really good too.
