Amazing store - great prices, friendly community feel, huge selection and varies often based on donations. You don't even need to have a plan, just walk in and you will be inspired! My sister and I are big into arts and crafts and always find more than we need here. Mankato needs more spaces like this!

First of all, super friendly and knowledgeable owner, happy to chat and show you around. Tons of eclectic art and craft supplies, and even local books! This looks like thee place to buy local art. They take donated tools and supplies, with a community art studio in the back full of even more supplies and tools. Just awesome!
Decently accessible: Short step at the entrance onto the sidewalk, and there is a short step with a tiny incline/ramp into the back art space that a chair could likely handle, otherwise the entire shop is flat cement flooring, with decently sized aisles that could fit a wheelchair, except for the seating area towards the front. Nice A/C on a hot day. Huge windows for natural light. Kid friendly to boot. It was quiet when I came in and not overwhelming to the senses.
I'll be back soon!
Update 5/7/2025: Still a great place. Awesome poetry and book collection for good prices. I liked it so much I volunteer to lead a basic sewing meet once a month there now! Cozy and community oriented.

I came with an unusual request for large sheets of paper. Happily they had some blank architectural sheets that were very large indeed. I made a donation for the paper and stayed in their workshop to begin construction of an ornate jellyfish origami model.

I found a plethora of treasures to add to my dragon hoarde of art supplies and will definitely be a frequent customer! I love how this gem of a locally owned art shop outshines the big box stores! The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and strives to make art supplies accessible to EVERYONE!

Owned by a local artist. Sells new art and craft supplies and poetry books as well as consigned art, jewelry, cards, etc. There are poetry readings and a small table in the back where people can use supplies for free to create paintings, collages, fibre art projects and more. Owner and staff are extremely helpful and supportive. A wonderful place to visit.

What a brilliant idea! I love this place. For a creative person like me it is like going into a candy shop! There are so many giftable items, craft supplies, books and almost anything you could imagine. All at amazing prices! The vibe is soooo positive it will give you a lasting smile. I made my first journey to Sidetracked today. What a glorious adventure! This place speaks directly to my soul. Inspiration, learning directly from those who enjoy particular crafts, community space for creating with supplies on hand-free will donation accepted. Amazing wide selection of possibilities. Gallery of art pieces from local artisans for purchase. Quality art supplies at reasonable prices. Even a space for thrift store priced gently used tools and supplies. Perfect place to explore a new art method your heart has been pulling you to, without the need for full financial investment if you purchased all supplies at the art/craft/hobby store.Simply love everything about Sidetracked!

From poetry books to art supplies to chocolate, this little shop has it all! Many of the products are ethically-sourced, handmade, or from small businesses. There is even a thrift area with gently-used items for sale. sidetracked's mission – making art accessible for all people – really shines through. The space is interactive as well, with a typewriter, letter-writing desk, and a community art studio space. Overall, sidetracked is well worth the visit! You never know what you might find.

I love this place! Patty has long been a staple in the Mankato community. It is a cozy, welcoming environment with everything from canvases to art magazines and various other art supplies. In the back area of the store is an open art studio with supplies to use to create art with. Patty also has regular events at her place. Sure to please young and old, and beginners to experts alike.
