The experience my wife and I had working with Matt Havel for our mortgage financing was superb. Matt made sure we were well informed on each step of the process to get us to closing. We appreciate his diligent work and great communication. Thank you!!

Company was horrible to have a 401k through. Called multiple times to sell and get my money out and they made me jump through a bunch of hoops to get anything done. Causing me to lose 25% of my investments. Beware if using this company for a 401k. You're better off not even having the 401 if it's either that or use this company. What a joke

Unfortunately there is not an option for 0 stars. I was referred to Alerus for a mortgage by my agent. My loan is paid off now and Alerus is dragging their feet on releasing their lien. This is a big deal because I have some damage that my insurance a check for payable to both me and Alerus and Alerus will not sign off on the check and is dragging their feet on releasing their lien. My insurance company and i have both contacted them a total of at least 5 times and they promised to both of us on 3 separate occasions that it will be taken care of and it is now 3 weeks later and this is still not done. I am stuck with damage in my home that I can't fix because I have a check I can't use and a mortgage company that is not releasing their lien on a paid off loan. Their customer service has been a joke - not only in this regard but with other questions and issues in the past. I would NOT recommend these people as they are all about the money and if they aren't making any off of you, then they couldn't care less. Don't buy into their marketing, testimonials and promises. Once you are their customer and you have issues, they WILL NOT be there to get those resolved. Buyer beware.

Untrustworthy brokers, they don't answer emails. Doesn't close your home on time because of lack of due diligence in communicating. Terrible brokers, expect not much to get done.

I didn't care for the way Joe LaGue treated my wife and I. While discussing our financials he became very short with us in regard to the fact that I transfer my half of rent into her separate account as well as the fact that I keep a few hundred dollars in cash around for emergency. It quickly became apparent that he was suggesting that i was illegally laundering money. I spread our bank statements out on his desk and every single penny is accounted for. I only work one job and sure enough, I never spent a penny more then my job paid me. This was extremely rude and Alerus should investigate his behavior.

Very unprofessional. They don't answer questions, emails. They don't do their jobs making sure your home purchase will close on time. Terrible communication and excuses and lies on delays. Do not use this company, nothing will get done in time. If you want to lose months of time and money, go here

Alerus taught me a very valuable lesson in adulthood. Where you have money, corporations will always try to take it from you, no matter who you are. I created an HSA account through my previous employer when I was hired in 2016. In my first job with real benefits as a 22 year old, I didn't have the first clue about how to keep track of everything I had just signed up for. Through all of my medical expenses that year, I never used the account because I truly had not remembered I had created one, and never received a card or statement from Alerus as confirmation of the account being open or money going into it. Three years down the road, I received a benefits card out of the blue and discovered that I had indeed created an account, and contributed about $160 to it over the course of my year of employment, but only $80 was left due to "account maintenance" fees that had been charged without my knowledge each month for the past two years. Despite my reasoning, Alerus refuses to take responsibility that they never once provided a card or statement for the account and will not refund the ridiculous fees charged. At this point in time, the power of healthcare industry still rests in the hands of the corporations, but beware, Alerus- times are changing. As trends shift to value-centric and patient-focused care and services, your current policies will not hold up to the consumer and you will lose.

This is the 2nd time I've used Cheryl Olmscheid and her team. Was a first time home buyer 5 years ago and they were great! Being new to buying a house - Cheryl made it very easy for me to understand what was going on at all times and answered all my questions. When I was ready to sell and find a different house a couple months ago, Cheryl took the time to help me maximize my purchase. Things went just as easy as buying my first house. You hear about bad buying experiences and all the headaches - not with this team. I was amazed that both times using Alerus how stress less the process was. If you are looking for a mortgage company to do business with and want the process to be painless - look no further!

Very pleased with the level of service from our loan officer, Adam Farrell and his team. Adam and Becky worked very hard to get us the best rate with very reasonable fees. It was a very smooth process.
