Words can't express how grateful I am for the excellent work by Dusty, Clay and Stanley that made our move go so smooth. They are so efficient, and organized working together. They communicated well and did everything they could to meet our wishes.

Update: After posting my original review, Dylan from Midwest Moving Company reached out personally, took responsibility for the issues with my move, and sent a $500 reimbursement via Venmo as a goodwill gesture. He handled the follow-up with sincerity and professionalism, and I appreciate that the company ultimately made things right. Mistakes happen — what matters is how they’re handled, and Midwest took meaningful steps to resolve the situation.
This was my first time using a moving company — and my first long-distance move of any kind — so I didn’t really know what to expect. I hired Midwest Moving Company for a move from Harwood, ND to Denver, CO, and while the local crews did fine, the freight stage was a disaster. Pallets were tied together, one nearly toppled off a lift gate, and several major pieces of furniture were damaged.
I knew going in that they use a freight-style model (load locally, palletize at a warehouse, then ship via Estes Freight), and the local crews on both ends were professional and easy to work with. Where things went wrong was once my belongings were palletized for freight. The Estes driver only had a manual pallet jack, and at one point a pallet nearly toppled off the lift gate — extremely stressful to watch. Both he and the local helper looked frustrated and overwhelmed by the process.
The results spoke for themselves: my Ikea Hemnes dresser was completely destroyed, my Uplift desk corners were scraped, my TV stand chipped, my printer cart broken beyond use, and my coffee table came through with the mesh torn and every single foot missing. On paper, that’s about $400 in damages, but realistically closer to $500–$700 once you factor in the hassle of replacement. I’ll note that these items weren’t on my itemized “high-value” list, so they wouldn’t have qualified for a claim under Midwest’s policy — that’s on me, and I could have prepared better. But even so, large household furniture shouldn’t come through scraped, broken, or missing parts if handled responsibly.
At nearly $4,000, this wasn’t a bargain move — I paid what I thought was a premium price for freight-style service. With delicate and heavy items like a large vinyl collection and music equipment, I expected much better care. The local movers did their jobs well, but once everything went to Estes Freight, it felt like no one was really in control.
Moving is stressful enough, and this experience made it worse. That said, I appreciate that Midwest ultimately took ownership, compensated me fairly, and followed through. In the future I’ll be willing to pay more for a company that oversees the entire move end-to-end, for the peace of mind that my belongings will be handled responsibly.

If I could give Midwest movers zero stars I would. multiple broken items they also broke heirlooms. I also paid for the insurance but they didn't even repair anything or offer to fix anything. They also quoted me a price and then after the unload of my items they wanted to up charge me $1300 more than what they quoted me. Never ever again would I ever use this place for moving. Don't use them they also have very disrespectful employees.

If you ever have to call this place and talk with them about a move they have made for you, it is horrible. They are rude, short and disrespectful. Unbelievable that someone answering the phone for this company can treat people that way. This was so uncalled for and they better figure out that people will have questions and find a better way in handling them. Horrible.

They-were very nice but when we got to my new place things were just dropped my things kind of wherever without it a care well one of the 3 did that so that made it difficult for me to get around after they left. They were in time coming at noon and left at 3:35. They wrapped items and they were very careful. They worked at a slow steady pace.

The 2 movers he had on sept 20th were amazing. We moved into maplewood and we had a 20ft U-Haul and it was professionally packed in Sioux Falls so it was packed to the ceiling from front to back. It only took them about an 1 1/2 to unload the truck carrying everything up 17 steps. They were very personal and professional. I would recommend them to everyone.
