Bill and Border Guide Service Voyageurs National Park is who you need to choose to fully experience Voyageurs in all its glory! His boat is large enough to hold about 12 people and part of it is covered so if you get to experience the rain on the water, you’ll stay dry. We saw 2 bald eagles on the trip!! No bears or wolves were spotted so I’ll have to come back. Bill is great and easy to communicate with. Give him a call and book your tour!

We have visited all 63 national parks. This was our second trip to voyagers and our first boat tour of the park. As I mentioned earlier, we are not new to the national park system. Let me say, of all the boat tours of national parks this was the most informative, relaxing tour. Bill is fantastic. If you plan to visit voyagers plan to do this tour.
Enjoy

We chose the Five Lake tour, which covers +100 nautical miles around Voyagers National Park. What an absolutely amazing trip!! Our highly qualified guide Bill started the journey with an excellent introduction to the area we would boat through. Throughout the day at different stopping points Bill shared history and personal stories since he has lived on these lakes his entire life. You won’t just hear about Ellsworth Garden but you’ll hear about Bill as a 10 yr old meeting Mr Ellsworth. This type of personal experience was shared by Bill at stop after stop. What an absolutely amazing day! The weather for our trip was perfect, no wind, sunny skies and no bugs even on the shore, all very unusual conditions according to our highly qualified guide Bill. We’re so very grateful that we were able to see Voyagers through Bill’s eyes. By the way Bill’s boat is new, comfortable, SAFE and very appropriate for the lakes.

Unreal time with Bill to Kettle Falls & back to Arrowhead Resort! He gave us the best experience you could hope for while trying to explore the area - full of first hand knowledge, humor, and unexpected (fun) stops, like only a local that has lived & breathed this area can truly do. Thanks a million for the great time, Bill!

Had a great time on a tour that Bill (and Irish!) gave us today to Ellsworth Rock Gardens. Bill gave us a great history of the place, the locale, and got us really close to some eagles that happened to grace the path that we took. Cannot recommend him and his company enough!

Our sunset cruise to Kettle Falls was awesome for our family of 3. After an introduction, the tour was 4 hours including 3 stops. The 1st stop was just across the lake at Ellsworth Rock Gardens. We enjoyed the rock sculptures and could've stayed longer. On the way to Kettle Falls we learned a lot and spotted many eagles. Then we had about an hour to explore Kettle Falls, enough time to hike to the dam and get a signature pink drink from the hotel bar. We then saw 2 eagles in the same tree on the way to Stevens Island. This was also a short stop that we enjoyed before heading back to the Sun setting. And if that wasn't good enough, he has a brand new super nice boat and everyone enjoyed spending time with Captain Bill's dog, Irish.
We highly recommend the Kettle Falls sunset tour with Captain Bill and Irish!

We absolutely loved our 6 hour boat trip with Bill. He knows the area blindfolded, and the stories he tells of his years up here, especially when he was young with his grandparents, are priceless. We stopped at several spots, including Kettle Falls for our picnic lunch, and, along the way, he stopped and gave us a chance to take photos of eagles, scenic spots, and to share stories of particular areas. I was able to bring my dog, Gracie, who got along very well with his sweet dog, they bonded quickly.
It was a fantastic boat, a wonderful day, and I would not hesitate to do it again if we are ever in the area. Thanks, Bill, for the wonderful memories!!!!

This was the best choice of ways to explore Voyageurs National Park, for me. My sister and I chose the 6 hour grand tour and it was worth every penny. You will not get the kind of detailed service and story-telling from anyone else. Bill lived the life in Voyageurs for the entirety of its existence as a national park but also since his childhood. He knows the stories of the people that lived there but even more than that - some of them knew him personally as well because they were neighbors! Not only was Bill kind and helpful to us during our tour, but he also offered many local suggestions for the rest of our stay.I would absolutely do this tour again. I felt very fortunate to have this experience.

Captain Bill shares his love of the area by sharing stories and personal experiences during his decades in the area. His Boston Whaler is very comfortable, but bring a windbreaker.
