Dave and staff are the picture of mechanical excellence. I brought my 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo to them after a awful experience with the Porsche Dealership in St. Paul. After dealing with many mistakes and mishaps with the dealership, I was obviously anxious about my car. Dave took time, many times over to calm my anxiety, explain difficult engineering concepts, and was patient with me. He made me feel comfortable again with this highly complex machine. I trust him to do the job right. An example. I asked him to perform transfer case fluid flush as i was worried it wasn't done by the dealership. He scheduled a time, and when i called to check on the car later that day he told me the transfer case was brand new. and that no service was required. Not only did he not perform unnecessary repairs, he also didn't charge me for his time to hoist up the vehicle and inspect it. Time is valuable, and Dave and his team's time is very valuable cause a mechanic you can trust is hard to find these days. Dave is direct and to the point. Trust this guy. And don't waste his time. So he can get a busy garage full of complex repairs completed.

The team at Werkstatt did an amazing job reviving my E46 M3 after many years of storage. Got it running better than when it went into storage. Very meticulous, very detail oriented, and great communication throughout the performance of the work.

I have brought 4 different cars to Dave over the last 5 years or so, primarily because he works on foreign automobiles, including classics. However, that has finally ended after the 3rd episode of breaking something on one of my cars and denying responsibility.
The first was breaking the ignition key in the ignition when trying to start my classic Volvo (the push start was pointed out to him when I left the car) I don't know who in the shop broke it but they didn't replace it. OK, no biggie.
The second episode was breaking the driver's side seat upholstery of a 1950s Alfa. They tore original-from-factory upholstery and when I asked about it, I got a shrug.
The third and final episode was when Dave lifted the hood on a recently painted Volvo and, due to an area of close proximity of the hood with the body, he ripped off an peach-sized patch of the new paint job from the hood. I had opened the hood myself on several occasions, including only hours earlier with no problems. When I asked him about taking care of that, he flew into a toddler rage, shouting and gesticulating, blaming the painter, telling me where I should go. Dave is a big personality: while he may know something about cars, he seems to have great difficulty with customer service or when questioned.

Kinda glad they refused my service because I went to Mercedes rightafter and Mercedes took care of me. Left with a 23 to drive as a loaner and when I walked into here and was open and honest about my problems I was refused service. They would not even do the oil change for me and that’s all I really needed. Come to find out I had a warranty extended for a common issue and Mercedes took care of me! Not here !
(P.s the comment back was not what you told me to do….. I left crying from your shop because NEVER have I ever been refused service. It was a blessing for me myself to make that decision, you told me straight up you were not going to touch my car. You never told me to go to Mercedes dealer. Just fyi.)

Dave was extremely condescending and rude. I was treated very poorly. He told me my battery was bad, which was untrue. My battery has been working fine even 3 months later. I wish I had never stepped foot in his shop.

I had a small issue with my audi. Took it there for help in diagnosing the issue. As soon as they found out that I worked on the car, they refused to service it. Basically got lectured about how I have no idea what I'm doing and that working on my car was beneath them. They are probably very good at what they do, but very frustrated that they refused to service my car. If you work on your own cars, don't take it here if you need help, you won't get it.

I trust Dave implicitly with my car. If he says something needs to be serviced, I believe him. He has earned my business.

Highly overpriced & overrated. This is the only business I've ever encountered that refused to work on my car. All I did was ask some questions & they guy starts bitching about how he basically doesn't have time for me & implying that I couldn't afford his rates. The dude insulted my intelligence & made me feel like a fool for attempting to work on my own car. They seem to prefer that their customer base remains ignorant in order to charge dealer pricing. This place is not worth the the effort. There are other shops in town that do much better work & will not treat you like garbage.

Dropped my car off for a diagnosis, (Crank Sensor Code) was told my expansion tank exploded during the diagnosis process and that in order to move forward the Expansion Tank & Water Pump needed to be replaced and the total would be roughly $1000. Drove my car all over MN for 4 weeks after my purchase but when I drop the car off it suddenly explodes while idling in the shop...? He charged me $600 for 3 hours of labor and gave me my car back in worse condition than when I dropped it off. Seems fishy to me but I am not a certified mechanic I suppose.

A huge shout out to Werkstatt. They take care of our two Benzes. They do a phenomenal job. Today I dropped in with a low coolant level warning on my S class and tire pressures lower than I like. Since it was -11 F here today I decided to drop in. Sure enough, they dropped what they were doing and took care of me. I was out of there in 10 minutes and refused to be paid. And I chatted with the owner about an SL I’m looking at as a present to ourselves…. Wonderful owner and shop. Especially appreciate them since I give our local Benz dealer a D rating.
