“We’ve driven past the Grant House in Rush City, MN for years and always wanted to stay there, but were never quite sure about availability, or whether or not it was even open or operating. With new ownership, we finally had the chance, and I’m really glad we did.

We stayed in Room 5, the Von Perske Suite, and really enjoyed it. The room was comfortable, full of character, very clean, and interesting in a way you just don’t get from a typical hotel.

The history is obviously a big part of the experience, but the new owners have also made some great changes and are clearly putting a lot of care into the place. I’m looking forward to staying again and seeing what they do next.

The restaurant was probably the biggest surprise. It was much nicer than we anticipated, with quality cocktails and a menu that feels elevated for the area without trying to be fine dining. It’s exactly the kind of food and atmosphere you’d hope to find at a really good historic B&B, and it would also be well worth stopping in for dinner if you’re looking for something a little nicer than the typical local restaurant options. The historic dining room is a great setting, and they’ve also added a beautiful new outdoor patio.

If you’re looking for a unique hotel in Rush City, a historic hotel in Minnesota, or an easy weekend getaway north of the Twin Cities, the Grant House is absolutely worth checking out. The hotel wasn’t open for a period of several years under the previous ownership, so I think it may simply take a little time for people to realize that it’s back and that there’s something really worthwhile happening here.

We’re very glad we finally stopped instead of just driving past. The Grant House deserves to be a destination again.”
