We booked two nights at this hotel for my nephew’s wedding. When booking, I noted that we could request a roll-a-way cot for our room, and I booked two queen beds for our family of 5. The hotel has a cool history, and once we found the front entrance, we were excited about our stay. It took a long time to find our room, as it was not marked on the hallway direction signs which was frustrating with three little kids and full arms.
When I asked about a cot for our room, I was told they couldn’t give us one because of fire codes. I wish this had been listed on the website.
I tried to use the iron for our wedding clothes, only to find some sort of plastic melted to it. I brought it down to the front desk and asked for a new one, but was told they didn’t have any more, or a way to clean it.
The front desk clerk seemed very annoyed with any questions.
Our second night, something went wrong with our heat and our room was set to 81 degrees. I couldn’t adjust the temperature and we didn’t get much sleep. When I told the front desk about the temperature, he didn’t seem concerned and said something about mentioning it to the manager.
On the day of the wedding, I attempted to check my nephew into his room at 2pm, the clerk said it wasn’t ready and I could come back at 3pm. When we returned to check in, there was a huge line and when we finally got the keys, they told us that his room had been ready all day. We were frustrated because we had planned to set up some decorations in his room, but because of the delay, we no longer had time. I’m still confused why he told me the room wasn’t ready.
My kiddos loved the pool area, and I would say that was the only part of the hotel I’d recommend. The rooms seemed grungy and the breakfast wasn’t very good.
I felt like the management didn’t care when I brought my concerns to them. So, here’s my review to warn others to avoid this hotel if possible.

Rooms were average and water pressure was a little lackluster but the atmosphere of the hotel and the staff were amazing. The continental breakfast had tons of options (hot and cold) and is one of the nicer ones we’ve encountered.
Nearby activities: We attended a wedding at the como park conservatory and my husband walked around the free como zoo and said it was amazing.

Was told at reservations that since they didn't have a room with 2 beds we would get 2 rollaway beds for 1 bed and a king. At the time of check in we were told that they only had 1 rollaway bed and they were first come first serve from the worker named Amy. Then was told to call multiple times between 530p and 10p to see if they got permission from the gm to upgrade to a room w 2 beds. Some points of the time we called were told that they haven't heard a response yet and some points had no answer. We finally got an answer when we were almost on our way back at 1030p. This is all unacceptable. Then we were told they didn't hear from this gm Lisa so they had to charge us for both rollaway beds. We were told to email and call her directly because on the wknds she works from home. We still haven't heard back from her. Ice machine wasnt readily available as well. We didnt use the pool area as we were too afraid that it wasnt treated like it should be due to lack of staff. We will never visit or recommend this hotel ever again.
Rooms: Very small. "Shit" on the light switch in the bathroom. The shower didn't have a door attached. Beds were very uncomfortable.
Safety: The door didn't fully shut tight. Had a gap between the wall and door
Food and drinks: Food wasn't replenished in a timely matter. Was told the breakfast guy would be their soon to refill. Then when we waited for at least 20min they said they were told by the gm that they couldn't refill since breakfast was over based on the time.
Noteworthy details: Very understaffed. I feel bad for Jerico as he was trying his best. Not enough parking. Had to park almost 3 blocks away. The Bar employee was bragging about just working their and smoking weed but yet they only carried alcohol drinks vs na beer.

The front desk attendant was great and knowledgeable. Lounge service had friendly attentive staff however limited food and beverage. The room was awful, do not stay here, it is definitely not worth the money. My shower was a little wet when I arrived which kinda creeped me out, idk, just felt weird. Then add in the smell, a lock latch that didn't seem to want to latch, phone that was disconnected from wall, alarm that didn't work. Now image sleeping in this room and waking up to take a shower before an important business arrangement you need to be to and finding out the shower only trickles and you can get more water out of the sink. I literally had to take a bird bath.

So disappointing- this was our go-to hotel for the Fair pre pandemic. During our stay one morning there was no coffee and no breakfast, the shuttle bus now takes a 3 hour lunch break. The rooms haven’t been updated since our last visit. Location is still prime for the Fair, but we are looking for another hotel for 2025

The staff are amazing! The hotel is clean and comfortable, the only downside is the lack of close parking.

My trveling partner picked this hotel because of location, pool & continental breakfast. (should have read the reviews 😣 before booking!)
It's in a historical building so it is set up a bit different and can be confusing to get around the rooms are comfortable. I will agree with other reviews the bathroom & room cleanliness could be improved.
For the most part Staff were very friendly and helpful some are new and need more training and night shift should never be one person alone in a hotel ever at the front desk!
We had an issue with a (super weired???) lot of water on a comforter that we could not figure out where it came from at 10:30p.m. at night we didn't get a new blanket until 12:15a.m. with no sheet and no duvet cover but we took it because we wanted to go to bed.
Saturday morning they could not keep up with breakfast food & beverages 😣 for the crowd. They serve ice cold eggs which I told the substitute breakfast person who said she could keep the hot & haad turned the microwave toward the wall?? WTH? The electric kept shutting off on all of the equipment & it is set up in a very tight location so basically its a HOT MESS!!!
They did have other rooms with roof/water damage? So maybe that was the issue?
I know for a fact the always have a couple of back up rooms for back up & they could have put us in or gotten the duvet covered comforter and sheets???
I highly doubt we would stay here again!
💍I would guess after reading other guests reviews of the pool water having ill effects on their jewelry, this is why my pandora style beads took a hit!😭
😉Again most staff were very helpful, polite & friendly which saved the experience.
🐕 They do allow dogs
👮 it felt like a safe surrounding but we learned that at night the front desk staff are alone???? WTH? So they don't answer the phone while away trying to solve problems? Uggg

Stayed at the BW Como Park this past weekend. We had stayed once before in February of 2020. Our first experience was great, although our room was way in the back of the hotel but not a deal breaker. This weekend, we booked a pool side room. Room was great, not loud by the pool, near the front desk and breakfast area, nice room with a little shared seating area right outside the sliding glass door to the pool area. Most hotels allow you to choose a fairly low temp in the room and adjust the fan speed. BW only allowed you to change the temp down to 68 degrees and could not adjust the fan speed. Not a horrible issue, but with it being over 90 degrees outside....cooler would have been better! The 2nd night, it was cooler in the pool area than in our room. Biggest issue was parking, it was AWFUL!! Very small parking lot (appx 20ish cars) on the one side and another little pull off area for another 8-10 cars. Used to be a nice, small parking ramp 20 feet away across the street. We were told it was condemned by the city and extra parking was near by....but it was almost 2 blocks away in a fairly sketchy looking parking area. Coming back our 2nd night, huge thunderstorm was going through with bad lightning and pouring rain. Ended up parking on the street in front of the hotel, with other guests, as it just seemed a free for all with people parking where ever they could. For anyone with handicapped issues, there was only ONE handicapped parking spot available as well. This hotel is in a great, centralized location near the state fair grounds and Como Zoo, but we won't be staying here again until they fix the parking situation!

the worst experience for a first time visit to the city. we booked a reservation for one night which we paid through online. we had a long drive and didn’t arrive until a little past 2am , however it was 2:03 when we got there and the clerk just straight up told us he couldn’t check us in and there was nothing he could do and told us that our reservation was a no call no show. but we showed up! apparently even if you have already paid but shows up at night they will not check you in. so with that being said i will never be booking with them again.

Rooms air conditioner was not working. The cleanliness of the room was poor. There were smashed bugs on the wall. The curtains had stains on them as well as the sheets. Were permitted to be wasted in the hot tubs with their under three yr old children. The neighborhood was very sketchy. And the reservation got very screwed up. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was not good very slow. Parking was very small amount of space near the hotel. They did have a secondary parking area, which was about 2 football fields away. With very little surveillance in such a sketchy neighborhood

Parking is horrible. Small lot fills up and they give you a pass to park 2 blocks away. Food was moldy in the breakfast buffet. We stayed there for 3 nights and they never cleaned/serviced our room. Kids running up and down the halls at 1:00 am from the event going on, banging on doors and hollering. Cute place but I would suggest not staying there on the weekend - lot fills up with event parking so guests can't park nearby. Handicapped parking was taken up with their own van and non-handicapped vehicles.
