Food shelf asked me what I didn't want, I said I didn't want meat, then they gave me 2 bags, half of which was meat.

I got a call to set up an appointment,
I am disabled and it’s hard for me to leave my house due to my health condition. I have another adult in the house however they do not drive , do not have a license, but because there is another adult in the house that isn’t “disabled” they won’t/refuse to deliver. But I don’t have money for an Uber or Lyft (hence the fact I need food from a food shelf cuz I can’t afford to go get some) to get him to go pick up groceries. We aren’t on bus lines or close to any of them. The woman I spoke to was VERY rude about it. This was my first time trying this - a friend of a friend of mine recommended it. So I had no idea how all of it worked. And I just felt like the woman was very rude - not to mention she just hung up on me and I don’t know why? I wasn’t being mean or rude back. I was actually tearing up because I was defeated feeling after she said the won’t deliver. So she just straight up hung up on me. I was just needing some help with food. I am going to call back and see what can be done or arranged.

Abysmal service. If you are someone looking to get back on your feet, this community center does not have your best interest at heart. Compassion is lost here.

These ppl really helped more than they realized when I 1st moved to the neighborhood. Being in a different state new city their food delivery helped a lot until I got settled and learned my way around ????

Thank you so much for the help. Also Everyone in our house is sick from eating the meat they gave us? The chicken legs were actually Brown & smelled when I unthawed it? And the chicken breast's were All freezer burnt:( also we got milk that would be expired in 4 days? That's basically old milk?. So my only issue was the dates on the meat and dairy products

I want to thank and praise the people who work and volunteer at the food shelf. I recently became disabled and cannot work anymore. I was able to get help with food for my family and was treated with kindness and respect.
