Our 6 year old needed lots of help learning his letters and processing information before he started kindergarten. I was worried he wouldn't be able to handle three, one and a half hour sessions per week, but we were absolutely blown away by the Shoreview team. The trainer, Garrett, was amazing with our son. By the middle of the program we saw our son sounding out words, was interested in writing letters without being prompted, and showed self-confidence in skills he'd never had before (and more). Our son never complained about going-he looked forward to it. The trainers and staff met our son where he was at and built a fun, focused, and at times, silly relationship-perfect for a 6 year old. They do such a great job making each day fun by earning points for staying focused, and for engaging with trivia and other games at the front desk. They went above and beyond and Kaylin, at the front desk, always worked to make our son feel special, including an impromptu birthday celebration.I highly recommend the Shoreview Learning RX if you're looking to boost your child's confidence and abilities in their skills.

It’s a lot of money to pay! We wanted to give this a try for our junior high daughter with mild autism and ADHD. Woodcock Johnson test was very informative, before and after: slow processing speed stayed the same although logic/reasoning increased. She now loves math and scored her highest 93% on a recent test - but still struggles mightily with keeping up with homework.

Learning Rx was what we needed to jump start our boy from looking at pictures at 5 1/2 yrs. To no longer being a word read. He was sounding out works by himself and putting things we would spell so he didn't hear us to sounding them out and saying it. We no longer can spell out something with him around. Good problem to have. We knew where he was struggling and the initial evaluation showed it. It does cost some money. But it is the best investment we could have made. He don't struggle in school just trying to keep up. He is caught up and ahead on some places. It has improved his processing speed as well. Which also carries over toward speech therapy. By the end of the program his is sounding out 6 letter words by himself and sitting and reading the words in the book out load. If you are looking for something that will work. If you are willing to do the running to get them there and stick with it. It pays off. They also have an incentive program for the students maked them put in the effort to do it.I have Dyslexia and with helping him out I have retaught myself not to be a word reader. I wish this program was available when I was a kid. The hours of struggles and tears I had worried me so much for my son. Now I know we won't have to deal with that for him. I told my husband if I ever have a stroke. Bring me here and retrain my brain to work right again. Some of the area he worked on reading, writing, math. This program I would recommend to anyone. Only wish they had it in the schools so more kids could get helped and not struggle. Maybe one day. Please give it a shot. It is for any age and makes a huge difference.I have to share so you can see the difference it has made for him. The Logic and Reasoning he misunderstood the question so that is why it is off. But I know he has improved in that as well.

My son Mason, who is now 13 years old, was never a good reader. Many times reading would frustrate him causing meltdowns and heartache. It was a struggle daily. His teachers even told his father and I that Mason did not know how to learn phonetically and that he only remembers words by sight. Well, they were wrong. Mason not only learned how to sound out words and read multisyllable words, but he also looked forward to reading and enjoyed it. The trainers and staff at LearningRX were phenomenal. Mason looked forward to going to his brain training sessions and worked hard in every aspect of the training. His math, problem solving skills, and memory skills also improved greatly. His teacher now reports that Mason is much more confident, enjoys reading, and participates more at school. LearningRX was the best decision his father and I could have made for Mason. Thank you to everyone at LearningRX. We are so grateful and recommend their brain training program to anyone, young or old, who needs one and one learning. You will not be disappointed.

My grandson went to Learning RX for the past fourmonths for nine thousand dollars. I saw no change after spending all this money! In fact it might of gotten worse! The had no recommendations or excuse why this is happened and no plan to help. Extremely frustrating!

Here are some highlights of the progress our daughter made during her enrollment at Learning Rx:Is it common for parents of children with cognitive skills difficulties to be uncertain of their own ability to help their child and uncertain of their child’s ability to change? I don’t know; but this described us, so we asked a lot of questions before enrolling our daughter in Learning Rx. Lindsey, the director of the Learning Rx in Vadnais Heights (now located in Shoreview), patiently answered them. Cory, another staff member, did the assessment, and we could see on paper what we were experiencing at home and why. Steadily, Learning Rx principles have shown us not only that our daughter can think better and become more independent (in multiple areas of her life), but also that we could teach and guide her more effectively .--Around the first week of training, our 6th-grade daughter returned her penmanship to normal size (in frustration, she had reverted to pre-school size).--During the next few months, she told me she was distracted during free reading and exactly what caused it. (This display of initiative was brand new!) The distraction was socially-related: thinking of her friends whenever she encountered their beginning initials in the book she was reading. This signal, along with her trainer Steve’s bringing to her (and our) attention other hindrances and helping her overcome them, alerted us to the social-emotional difficulties Hannah has, and their relationship to her academic-cognitive difficulties. Armed with this knowledge, we completed social cognition curricula at home, and she retained and applied the concepts well. Her trainers held her accountable for positive learning behaviors, and Libby, then-Director of First Impressions, always had a listening ear for her good news.--After four months or so, she began learning and playing more complex games at home. She more consistently performed math operations, including fractions and decimals, correctly. We are not as hesitant to introduce a new game, math concept, or task at home, fearing the result or reaction; we are more confident and so is she. The time spent with her trainers in math, logic & reasoning, and strategy paid off.--As far as flexible thinking and more mature answers during school subjects (we are homeschoolers): improvements were evident. Thanks, Steve & Noah (trainers), for raising our expectations. We were so used to giving up or giving in.--Her trainers patiently led her through reading comprehension activities, which continued during math and logic time. I learned these strategies during my observation times and was inspired to make sure she was reading whole books, in order, and understanding them. In addition to her free reading, Bible and youth group reading, and regular curriculum, during her time at Learning Rx, she tackled 5 grade-level fiction and non-fiction books. My husband and I are doing better at challenging her comprehension, and she is taking more responsibility for it by asking questions.--We are thankful we started our journey into solving the mysteries of our daughter's learning problems at Learning Rx. We got to the root of many issues and became more alert teachers and parents, as well as Hannah becoming a more confident student and life-long learner. The staff at Learning Rx is very special to us. “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). The season of cognitive skills training was a gift from God and we are very thankful.

My son is 14, was diagnosed with ADHD in Kindergarten and has struggled with organization and staying on top of his homework assignments in grade school and middle school. We had concerns about this impacting his performance going into high school, and a friend at work recommended LearningRX. His initial assessment indicated that he struggles with processing speed, which is one of the factors affecting his focus and follow-through. They suggested brain training and study skills to help. He started over the summer and will finish in December. He has had a wonderful experience - he always looks forward to the sessions with Kevin and the exercises that are focused on his processing speed. Kevin is so friendly and really knows how to connect with our son and make their time productive and positive. His grades this year have been good, and he strongly feels that his performance on tests in math and science have been improved in terms of completion time and quality of results with the training he has received. We have seen him take more ownership of his work, and are very grateful for the skills he obtained in the program. We would definitely recommend LearningRX!

When our bright and happy daughter began to struggle with multi-step requets, and we watched as she used last year's math to solve this year's math problems, we knew something wasn't right. A simple assessment at LearningRx revealed that there was a lag in her executive process, and a deficiency in her short term memory. Strengthening those brain muscles through what they call "brain training" sharpened her short term memory, which in turn, allowed her to execute multi-step tasks with ease and success. The best part: her confidence and smile returned - we will always be grateful for LearningRx.

Our daughter benefitted so much from her program at Learning RX! She had some hitches in her processing which inital assessments identified. Then, training exercises were designed to address her issues. Her ability to absorb and use information was greatly increased as well as her focus and concentration. The trainer she worked with was wonderful, and all of the rest of the staff could not have been more pleasant and supportive. We would highly recommend Learning Rx!
