I would have given it negative 5 if it was possible. Here is the what happened. My wife got a new car and I inherited her old one. Old car needed overhaul really bad as it has nearby 270,000 miles. Anyway, it overheated, and thermostat stuck half way open. I decided to change drive serpentine belt, idling pulleys, and spring loaded automatic tensioner. I thought well maybe I will replace the water pum too since I am taking cooling system apart. However, upon taking belt and the pulleys off, I have discovered that water pump cannot be replaced unless engine is half way out and the water pump has 18 bolts!!! Moreover, belt tensioner cannot be replaced either since its bracket is under the AC compressor. I figured I won't be able to do it, and, besides car has a lot of miles, and it's not worth to put sanity sweat, blood, and money in it. Anywho, I wanted to return parts. Unfortunately, my grandson ripped the tensioner and pulleys boxes as I was checking the parts out. The guy said, I am not accepting parts without box. I said look, how come in the past I have returned parts without boxes and sometimes without reciept, and there were no problems? He said: "I don't care if it was the other guy who accepted returns. I am not!" I got really infuriated really fast. So I said: "Okay, how about you can deduct some like 10-20% for getting new box and restocking fee, or for whatever that caused inconveniences." We are talking about parts order worth $450. He could have gotten $50 for restocking fees, but no, he has gotten even more cocky. And, no wander he didn't want to accept parts back. I think he might collect sales commissions or some sort of financial incentives. I told him to get the manager, and he said he was a manager and his name I believe Chris. I told him everything I think about the unpleasant situation, and that I am going to get hold of some superiors. I asked him if they have some method to file a complaint, and he said he doesn't know anything. I have spent at that store and other napas I don't know how many hundreds of dollars prior to this horrific experience. I leave in Mound, and this particular store is shy of mile away, very convenient. There is also ORiley's store about mile down the road fro napa, and I go there too if napa doesn't have things I need. Guys and gails at O'Reilly's always accepted returns without receipts or box if it just a white paper box. I still can't believe this Chris guy at napa would be a jerk over cheap white box. I found exactly same box and am going to take the label off the ripped box and attach it to new box. And, if that, won't satisfy return, then I will for sure and make sure individuals like that guy manager at napa will get in touch with customer service relations department or whatever. I am not going to give them $450 just over silly box. Will see. I will shoot an update on how things are going with this miserable return experience. I see many people here expressed their similar concerns. From now on , my foot will never step inside napa stores, period. Good luck to anyone struggling with same issues.

we had purchased a starter at the spring park location and told that it would fit the 68 VW Bug we were working on. Unfortunately it didn’t fit. We returned the part but were told it was “scuffed up” and missing a bushing so it wouldn’t be accepted as a return. If we had the bushing it would be accepted The employee then told us that to get it to fit we could cut part of the shaft off and file it to fit. We found the bushing and attempted to return it today. The employee then asked “where’s the box” well they had the old starter and placed it in the box for the new starter and kept it. He would not accept the return without the box which they said “got sent off with the old starter and core.” How is NAPA keeping the box our responsibility? Fortunately, we brought the starter over to the Eden Prairie location. They couldn’t have been more apologetic and gave us the phone number for the area sales representative but Eden prairie could not return starter because Spring Park had our old starter core. We talked to the sales representative for the area and long lake store accepted our return and gave us our money back and credit for the core we had turned in at Spring Park.

Great staff, good deals on specialty tools. Plus they don't mind if you occasionally wax nostalgic on car stories now and then. Did notice the word curb spelled 'kerb' re 'kerbside service'.
