“We were out at a state park camping when I believed my dog ate a lead fishing weight. I couldn’t prove what she ate, but I could only base it on noticing that a careless fisher person left a lead weight on the picnic table, as well as a fishing hook that I had not noticed prior. Not knowing what she ate, I was extremely upset and scared for my dog’s well-being. I immediately called Spring Valley vet clinic and asked what I should do about it. They told me to bring her in, so off we went. I loaded up the kids still in their swimsuits and they took us immediately. The x-ray showed that she did not eat anything thank goodness. I was beyond happy to have that peace of mind. I would’ve been so upset the whole trip and beyond not knowing if she ate lead. I was stressed out about the situation and overwhelmed in general because camping with three kids and two dogs by myself is just, well, stressful. I was trying not to cry, but broke down. I’m not sure if that’s what made them move us, but they gave us a really nice room with a couch so we had privacy. I very much appreciated that!
Overall, I did not feel judged, I felt like they treated the situation with urgency, and they were all so pleasant. We had never been there before since we’re not from here, so I was quite surprised by their level of care for us.
Of course, we had to do some pictures in the waiting room with my other dog. My kids were in great spirits about the whole thing, they were very positive that our puppy would be OK and they were right! The vet also gave my kids fun activities to do while we waited for some answers.”
