About Swanville Co-Op Creamery Association
In the year 1900 a frame creamery building was erected by a Mr. John Schweppe on the site where the Amanda Peterson residence is now located. Mr. Schweppe's business venture did not seem to be very successful, but he operated his enterprise as a private creamery until the year 1907, when the farmers of our community decided to form an association. They purchased the creamery from Mr. Schweppe for the sum of $1900. May 13, 1907 was the first board meeting held to discuss to purchase a starter can for the creamery, also a cream vat of 500 gallons capacity.
