We took a canoe trip to a nearby lake and rented our canoes from here. They were awesome! Super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be using them for future trips in the area!!

Just before hiking off I discovered some gaps in my kit. These folks had exactly what I needed, and not at desperation prices. Staffer was helpful, friendly, and only a touch bemused at my haphazard approach.

I’ve had good experiences with Sawtooth when I have been there with a man. This trip was just two women and we were treated very rudely upon drop off. Apparently we broke a rule when trying to repair our flat tire that left us stranded and this dude went off on us and was condescending for no reason. We made a mistake unknowingly and he apparently felt the need to punish us. Does he hate women? Is he a homophobe? I don’t know but if you are a woman or LGBTQIA, I recommend finding a different outfitter. There are plenty on the North Shore.

They know their stuff! They are helpful and have expert knowledge to share with you to ensure your trip is amazing. We rented two canoes from them, and the process was easy, and they were all wonderful to work with. Their store is filled with necessities for your trip, and gear to make your trip even easier. They know their gear and provide great advice. We recommend them highly and will frequent their store when we are on the north shore again!

Cannot recommend enough. I had an emergency bike repair and not only did they take time out of a busy morning to help macgyver a solution to a broken part they didn't carry in my bike's size, they charged a generous rate for their time. Great staff, great service, absolutely worth your business.

Best place to stop for any camping equipment you may need while on the North Shore. I’ve rented kayaks from them for years. They have great rental equipment and are very helpful with making sure you know how to transport your canoe or kayaks.

We've used Sawtooth for partial outfitting (canoe, portage packs) several times and have been satisfied with the service. They also have a nice retail space that offers outdoorsy items.Located on the way to the Sawbill and Gunflint Trails.Keep in mind that if you rent one of their canoes, they give you those cheap plastic/metal paddles (I'd recommend bringing your own, if you have one).Their cancellation policy is kind of rough, but I did need to cancel on short-notice once due to a death in the family and they were flexible, which was greatly appreciated

Sawtooth Outfitters saved our trip! They have everything a cyclist could need. We were on our way from Canada to Duluth and lost a bike light and used both our spare tubes. Needless to say we were totally stressed out. They had everything we needed and helped get us on our way with super-friendly service. Thank you so much!

My group has used Sawtooth for multiple BWCA trips over the years for gear rental. They are incredibly accommodating, letting us pickup gear after-hours, and providing great advice on route accessibility and conditions!
