I brought my in-laws up here who were visiting from Texas. It was a bit cold and dreary but the falls were wonderful. We did not make it up to the Fifth Falls since the trail was closed from 11/4/23 until 11/19/23 for deer hunting. I nice gentleman told us to make it down to where the river feeds into Lake Superior which we did and we really enjoyed the views. We definitely plan on coming back when it is warmer.

Hands down the most iconic place on the north shore. My family loves this place we go at least once a year.

A must see if you're in the north shore and especially with kiddos. Short hike to the falls. We explored both the upper and lower falls and played in both but the kiddo (5) had more fun in the lower falls. He did walk cautiously out with me and the hubby on the upper falls. Note - this park is free! Great restroom facilities and a cool place to check out some great background on the park, animals...and a store too for a souvenir.

Who doesn’t love waterfalls! And in this case, there are several falls to see with a relatively short hike to each one. They also have well maintained paths with a paved path to the upper falls for anyone in a wheel chair or stroller. Parking is free by the visitors center or along the roads. Their is a camp site near by that you have to pay for, so don’t get confused and pay by accident. This was a great quick stop as you drive along the north shore.Restrooms: Multiple restrooms and drinking fountain in the visitors center.

Nice MN State park, make sure to bring your swimsuit as you can splash or take a quick swim in the falls. There is 2 trails the upper and lower around the falls. The lower pretty much goes directly to the falls. There is other trails as well. Gift shop and restroom on site as well. Vending machines as well.

Awesome place for an easy walk along the river in the forest. Lots of views of waterfalls. Some paved, but can leave and take a mostly dirt/wood-bridging route. Definitely recommend a healthy dose of bug spray since there are flying bugs and ticks on the area.Restrooms: Restrooms at the visitor center, none outside of that area.Dog-friendliness: Must be on leash

All the parks along the North Shore are great. Gooseberry has a nice gift shop. If you just want ti see the falls you do not need a park sticker. To get down to the shore you need the park pass. Lots of fun at Gooseberry. Great hiking trails, amazing views, peaceful setting.

Wow, what a beautiful place to visit and especially in the Autumn. I hiked from the visitor center up to the 5th falls and I was in heaven. Trails here are simple to moderate in difficulty but you should be prepared for allot of stairs, rock & roots hopping and mud. Completely free to visit. If you’re here because of the roadside rest stop that’s also located here then you’ll likely see the sign saying 2 hour maximum limit on parking but I van camped overnight and had no issues w/ the local PD.The campground here has no shortage of beautiful secluded sites. The showers are free to guests(and people like me who sneak in).

Gooseberry falls are beautiful! There are a few trails located along the stream which you can take to visit the upper and the lower falls. You can also make the roughly 1 mile hike up towards the ‘Fifth Fall’

We need to enact legislation that EVERY Minnesotan check out Gooseberry Falls at least once in their lives. It embodies what is truly Minnesotan: beautiful natural areas that no one likes to brag about (I'm a Minnesotan and a Yelper-so I'll brag for us all). It is free to visit (camping is extra), lots of parking area, walkable trail around all the waterfalls. Don't forget to stop in the Visitor Center! Really nice & knowledgeable park staff there waiting to answer your questions about the area. Can't wait to come back here on bicycle on the Gitchi Game State Trail!
