Such a beautiful site, both the lighthouse and the surroundings. I've visited in all seasons. There is an admission fee most of the year, but it's free for a small window in the winter. The lighthouse is spectacular and I love viewing it from the shoreline below.

Great spot. Expensive to go in for a tour. Small in size. Excellent views from Pebble beach and around

An amazing place to hunt along the banks of Lake superior. Beyond the museum, it's a worthy exercise to get near the lake for nice pictures of the lighthouseRestrooms: Plenty of restrooms in the park as denoted in the maps

This was a beautiful state park to visit. Even though we visited too late in the season to go to see the inside of the lighthouse, we were able to still hike down a little to see the view of the state park that is often in photographs or paintings. Quite stunning a vantage point! I think it is definitely worth visiting this state park in order to see Split Rock Lighthouse. Worth the drive from the cities! We went on a very windy day which resulted in huge waves.

The historical part of the park, the lighthouse & grounds, has always been a favorite. The tours are wonderful & very educational. There's also a new exhibit that wonderfully put together. I only wish we had spent more time there. There are also hiking trails for everyone. We were able to take our kids on a few & there were no issues. The new campground is amazing. There's plenty of space at each site. While they're all set up for electric, some are set up to also accommodate tent camping. Water & vault toilets are easily accessible. There's even an ADA site so everyone can enjoy what the area has to offer. Definitely going to be planning a trip back.

We had a great time. The history of this place is fascinating. Our first stop was the Keepers quarters.Just walking through the building helps you realize how hard life was working at the lighthouse. We next stopped at fog horn building. They didn't have the original machinery, but they displayed information about the lighthouse. This included drawing of the construction of the lighthouse. Finally, at the lighthouse itself. We were able up the spiral staircase and look at the working light itself. The glass crystal lens was beautiful. Also, the view from the top was breathtaking.Everywhere we went on the property. You were able to speak with experts on the history and the working of life at the lighthouse. They enjoyed answering your questions. It really brought the visit to life. Definitely worth the visit.

Absolutely gorgeous site. This is both a State Park and Historical site. You can gain entrance to them both at one location. The lighthouse site has a minimal entrance fee and worth it. The views are spectacular from up top and also from below. You can access shoreline from “old tram” trail which are stairs or walk a gentle slope trail down, which is the part of the State Park. You can access additional trails along the shore from there as well. This is a gorgeous site in any season, but obviously Fall is one of its more colorful times.

We camped here for the week and enjoyed it! It is a beautiful campground. The bathrooms and vault toilets were clean. The lots are large and spread apart from the other lots.

Can't see anything at all unless you pay first. Thought we could at least see the outside of the lighthouse but you can't even do that without paying. Ridiculous! Don't bother! Instead just drive to one of the scenic overlooks down the road and see it from a distance.

This review is regarding the new campground. (Shipwreck Creek)First of all, this campground seems to attract families who want to access the bicycle trail. (The Gitchi-Itchy Gami)The state builds a campground with electric sites, yet they do not build a dump station for the campers to get fresh water or get rid of their waste. So, these campers must try to minimize their water use and use the vault toilets. This creates the problem of overuse of these toilets and an inadequate cleaning of these toilets. The next problem is that the roads inside of and leading to the campground are too narrow to accommodate bicycle traffic, which leads to dangerous issues.Specifically, kids on bikes riding on the narrow roads when people are coming in pulling large camping trailers. This campground does have a newly built, modern shower and bathroom building with running water and flush toilets. I have been to many newly designed state park shower facilities, which are great. For some reason, this one has water hot enough to be very uncomfortable and, for some odd reason, has no place to put your soap or shampoo. No soap dish ?Many sites do not have any shade. This campground is new, and the trees and vegetation need to grow, so that will get better in time.Overall, it is a nice campground, a great location, close to Two Harbors and an hour to Grand Marais for a day trip.

Officially known as the new Shipwreck Creek Campground at Split Rock State Park. , this Campground is about 5 minutes from the lighthouse and is seamlessly integrated into nature. This is one of the first campgrounds I've been to that didn't feel like the land was manipulated and overly stripped in some way, and a campground was set up. Here, it feels like they worked with the land to leave nature intact and it shows with ample green space and forest between each campsite. Shower facility and restrooms at the entrance are some of the nicest I've ever been to. Super clean but careful, no adjustable temperature, it's one button operation and the water was almost a little too hot for me but that's a nice problem to have. Even the many single door outhouses sporadically placed throughout the park are about as clean as can be and well maintained. Newly paved roads throughout the park with an abundance of paved bike trails from the campground leading to 15 additional miles of paved trails along the North Shore. If there is one negative it would be the lack of cell service or the ability to pick up any local TV stations on the antenna. That's not such a bad thing, though, if you really want to get away. I have Verizon and was able to use my phone a little bit but not for streaming too well. My wife has AT&T, and there was no signal. That's about the only negative we can think of. I would definitely go back.

Absolutely beautiful. There was a 16-minute movie we watched before we went to the lighthouse, it was very informative. Well groomed walking paths. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. A MINNESOTA MUST SEE AND DO!!?
