Our experience was not great this year like other years. We have been coming here for 25 years. Very disappointed. We had mold in our coffee pot, beach was bad, docks were dangerous and playground was dangerous. None of the services we had for years and no one told us about it. Things have got to get better or we won’t be back. We rent all cabins except wren den and finch. We loved this place however things are going downhill fast.

Canary Beach turned out to be the perfect getaway for me, my wife, and our kids. ❤️ We came here wanting some quiet time together, and it gave us exactly that. The staff were always around when we needed something and were genuinely kind, which made everything feel easy and stress-free. My wife especially enjoyed the peaceful surroundings she kept saying how clean and well-kept the place was. Our kids had endless fun as well with the open spaces and amenities. Seeing them laugh and enjoy themselves made the whole trip worth it. What I also loved most were the lake views. Sitting there with my family felt so relaxing. This is definitely a place we’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommended!

I honestly fell in love with this place. It’s family-friendly and has everything we needed for a fun and relaxing time. The staff were so nice and really made us feel taken care of. The whole park was clean, the kids had a blast, and those water views? Just so peaceful. Can’t wait to come back here again next year! ❤️

Our family has been returning every year to enjoy the great beach area and the other amenities like the sand volleyball court, playground, and boat dock. The Wrens Den cabin is spacious and perfect for our large family. However, this year, a sharp decline in the care of the grounds was very noticeable. The boat dock was in bad disrepair and quite dangerous to walk on with missing boards, exposed screws/nails, and dock sections that were not secure. Deflated water play equipment and a damaged swim platform added to the list of concerning safety hazards caused by neglect from the staff. Some of the amenities we previously enjoyed were no longer present such as free-to-use paddle boards and the kiddie “train” ride. Overall, the warm, caring staff we were used to are now seemingly gone. Please restore this resort to the once fun and safe vacation spot that we remember so fondly!

Long-Time Guests Saddened by Decline in Quality and Safety
Our family has been coming to Canary Beach] annually for many years. It’s been a beloved tradition and a place full of great memories—but this year, we were genuinely disappointed by how far things have slipped. The decline in maintenance and overall care was hard to ignore.
The dock, where we dock 2 boats and fish from now has missing and loose boards—making it not only difficult to use but a real safety hazard. With water levels being unusually high this year (not the resort’s fault), we had to trek through mucky, weed-filled water just to get onto the dock. It was unpleasant and dangerous for kids and a couple of us with physical issues already. We added a dog to the party this year and called ahead to ask if there was a pet fee, we were told “NO” just clean up after him and keep him on a leash. However, there was in fact a charge.
The water playground—another family highlight—was also in rough shape. The trampoline and slide were sagging due to lack of air, again raising safety concerns. Meanwhile, the lily pad that needed replacing last year is still floating there, even more worn down.
We also noticed the beach had not been groomed at all. The weeds were thick and unpleasant, and it gave the whole area a neglected feel. These may seem like small things, but they add up quickly—especially when families are paying for a resort experience.
Every adult in our group had a conversation at some point with guests from other sites, and sadly, the theme was the same: we’re all disheartened to see the resort decline. We love this place, and we truly hope management addresses these issues so we—and others—can continue coming for years to come.

We have stayed at Canary Beach for 10 plus year and have really enjoyed the beautiful lakeside views and quiet atmosphere. The location itself is charming and has great potential for a relaxing family getaway. However, I do want to mention some concerns about safety that I think future guests should be aware of.
The docks felt a bit unstable in places, with loose boards and areas that could use repair. We also noticed that some of the water toys and equipment appeared worn or not well-maintained. While nothing catastrophic happened during our stay, it didn’t give us full peace of mind when letting the kids play by the water.
With a little more attention to upkeep and safety checks, this could be a fantastic spot. I hope management addresses these issues, as the setting really is lovely.

This was our first year staying at Canary Beach Resort—we had a group that rented two cabins and three campsites. While we made the most of it and had a fun trip overall thanks to great weather and good company, I wanted to share a few things from our experience that may be helpful for others considering a stay:
Booking & Communication:
We booked a year in advance, but had difficulty getting in touch with staff in the months leading up to our trip. The week of our stay, we were told that our group might be split up or moved to overflow parking—even though we had reserved specific spots. Pricing around adding a tent to a campsite was inconsistent (we were quoted three different amounts), so be sure to get everything in writing and take notes during booking.
Check-In Experience:
Unfortunately, check-in didn’t feel very welcoming. A couple of rude comments were made to our family members—possibly by the manager—which set the tone a bit off from the start.
Site Conditions:
I stayed at Site 41, which is directly across from a swampy area. After rain, the standing water and mud made it tough to enjoy.
The road runs right behind the campsites, which wasn’t ideal for small kids trying to nap or those unused to road noise.
The picnic table at our cabin had rotting wood—my aunt actually fell when one of the boards broke.
Garbage must be hauled to the dumpsters, and you’re expected to grab your own supply refills from the lodge.
Beach & Amenities:
The beach was hit or miss—some days it was partially raked, others not.
The lake itself was nice near the shore, but quite weedy past the first slide.
The furniture by the lake was great—durable and maintenance-free.
Cabins were clean and comfortable. My uncle did have to fix a toilet handle and a washing machine, but overall, they were well-equipped.
General Feedback from Other Guests:
We spoke with a few seasonal guests and return visitors, and many mentioned they likely wouldn’t be coming back either—citing the removal of fun activities like hayrides and kiddie rides, and rising costs (we were told cabins are increasing ~$1000/week next year).
In Summary:
We had a good time because of our group and the beautiful weather, but our overall impression of the resort was mixed. With some improvements in communication, maintenance, and hospitality, this could be a great spot—but as it stands now, we aren't returning.

We were so impressed with the vast improvements over last year! The cleanliness in the cabin we stayed in was as above top notch! It was a bit windy so when we opened the door some leaves blew in so I can see the struggle to keep these places clean! Every time we came or went I noticed how dirty the cabin got and tried my best to keep it nice so the housekeeping wouldn't have too terrible of a job to do in our cabin! But overall we were please with our entire stay including amenities and staff!! Will definitely be returning!

We’ve been coming to Canary Beach for years, but this stay was a total disappointment.
• Rude Check-In: We were greeted with attitude, not hospitality.
• Dirty Cabins: Several of our 5 cabins were filthy sand everywhere, sticky tables, and stained counters.
• Fly-Infested Outdoor Areas: Picnic tables were never cleaned and constantly swarmed with flies.
• Pontoon Ripoff: Paid $1,000 for a moldy boat with no lights, no anchor, and sketchy life vests.
• Trashy Beaches: Garbage left all week, attracting raccoons and skunks. Kids area falling apart.
• Unhelpful Staff: The store clerk yelled at us for asking basic questions. No essentials in stock.
This used to be a great family resort. Sadly, the charm, cleanliness, and care are all gone. Save your money — we won’t be back.

Nice place, clean, friendly service....I wish they would eliminate the outside booking service. It would be nice just to talk to a real American who is actually on sight.

We stayed last week at RV Site 41. We also stayed here last year at same time and everything was good. This year however there seems to be a disconnect between Rjourney and Canary Beach staff. Issue was I was rented a pontoon on 6/11/2025 for 4 hours for $120. The pontoon with the Mercury motor is in severe need of maintenance as it will not stay running at idle speed nor could it be used for trolling. Staff on site were pretty much clueless about this. Other issue I was told that if I rented the pontoon and if the weather turned bad I would still have to pay for the pontoon. No way would I go out in lighting. I sent a message to Rjourney asking for some compensation and they haven;t followed up. Had Florida grandkids along so their fishing experience was pretty well ruined. We wanted to troll after bobber fishing didn't turn out very well. On the other hand, they do have a nice swimming beach with various water activities like canoe, kayaks, rafts, etc., that the kids did enjoy.

We had such a fun stay at this resort over Christmas break! Steps from the lake for ice fishing, cozy fireplace, plenty of space, great kitchen, and superior staff to help make our stay memorable!

Terry was awesome! He answered any and every question we had. We stayed in the Dove’s Nest cabin. It was very clean and had everything we needed for a long weekend. We will definitely be back!!!

From check in, we felt welcomed. Terry was so pleasant and helpful. Rented the pontoon boat which was worth it. Amazing sunset! Terry delivered us some fire wood. Cabin was so clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Everything was thought about in the well stocked kitchen. WiFi was excellent. Beach was clean and grounds were so tidy. Highlight was watching Terry pickup all the kids for a ride in his side by side train. Overall a truly charming getaway weekend.

We had a great weekend stay at this place. The unit we rented was way more than what we have expected. Excellent view of the lake, spacious, clean and very well maintained. We hope to return back to this place again.
