I come here frequently to pick up cat litter as well as some provisions for Countess Willow and I have never experienced any issues. I'm in here about 1 or 2 times a month and the service is always great and the staff has always been helpful. It seems that lots of the issues always revolve around the grooming area and the vet or health area. Other than that if I'm looking for something they are always happy to help and no one has ever been rude in over 8 years. To be fair to the store I have heard while there people were mad because they have driven in to get services they don't provide or are confused about their services. I don't use any of their services so I'm not sure if they are written out clearly or what especially grooming but I tried one and I know they don't do cats.

I was being treated like a child at this store because they asked me how old I am. It's different than asking me for my State ID Card that's why I did not like that kind of question about my age. I am not happy with that question because I felt that it's inappropriate to ask me about my age. I was not angry, just feeling insulted. I was not means to get upset, just very confused and felt sad about that because I felt like I was being treated like a child. This needs to stop please because I think it's wrong to ask customers and me how old they are. Just saying they can look at Driver Licenses or State Identification Cards if required instead of asking for their ages. It happens today (24 January 2024). That's why the location of West Saint Paul is making me to feel unsafe and uncomfortable.

Employees are as helpful and nice. There are a lot of selections for a smaller store. Plenty of small animals and usually a busy grooming area.

And employee named KYLEE with blue/purple hair refused a sale to me. She said “under her good conscience” she wouldn’t sell fish. This store is always stocked out of dog food & cat litter. The employees are extremely rude and often don’t offer help. I signed up for the petco membership to buy fish but I will be canceling because of this extremely disrespectful experience with KYLEE.

Although it’s tough to get ahold of them to make an appointment, it took 2 for a call back. The staff does a great job in the grooming department.

I had been visiting a blue quaker parrot once, sometimes twice a week for 7-8 weeks. I had some good conversations with the person that took care of the birds/cleaned the cages and toys. I let him know I was very interested in the blue quaker. On 10/16 I let the bird caretaker know I would be in on 10/23 at noon to buy the blue quaker. I showed up at 11:50. All the birds were in the back as the cages were being cleaned. Long story short, the manage had just sold the bird, the people were at the counter checking out. The manager told me "we don't hold animal for anybody". I was dumbfounded. The manager chose to sell the bird to someone that didn't even see the bird as they were all in the back room vs. someone that had been visiting the bird for almost 2 months.

Petco - West St. Paul is expertly laid out and well stocked. I could sense all the animals get excellent care there. I was blown away by the selection! I appreciated the excellent customer service from the cashier, who answered all my questions and inquired about my pet. Such great customer service! This must be your Flagship store, it was really impressive from the minute I walked through the door.

I have been to two other pet stores in the past week getting things for my new kitty and this was by far the best experience I’ve had at one! All the employees were very friendly and Laura went above and beyond talking me through ideas of how to manage my new kitten’s behaviors and recommending the right products. Thanks to her I found a food my picky little guy loves!
