Too many biting flies. Nice beach walk, and in the woods along the Hiking Club trail, but seriously, the flies!! They were only slightly deterred by deet.

Had my four boys here, probably other state parks had more to do for them, but the three ground squirrels at our site kept them entertained as well as delicious wild raspberries. Overall good stay.

Great state park just do not go during 4th of July weekend unless you want half the state of minnesota to be by you.

Great state park, my favorite actually. A lot of times there's only a handful of other campers. Wouldn't recommend if you have young children as the main attraction is the lake and just a few hiking paths. Absolutely amazing spot for the summer solstice.
Restrooms: Vault style, they do have good showers though.
Dog-friendliness: Lots of open space for your doggo.

A nice park, I would call it the lake park. Great veiw of Lake of the Woods. A picnic area with nice beach area not fancy though. Trails are ok but not great. You come here for the lake view.

8/9/23. Zippel Bay is all about the beach. I had visited before in June and there were lots of flies. However this time in August there were no flies. White pelicans can be seen skimming the waves and a group of them were on the wall leading out to the Coast guard lights.
