The Memorial Auditorium is a beautiful restored Art Deco-style performing arts theater! The expanded lobby and concessions area is gorgeous and, in addition to providing much-needed space, echoes the architecture of the original theater building. The Auditorium offers a yearly concert series with a variety of acts/performances, along with one-off special acts/concerts. The building is also home to Worthington Senior High School's plays and musicals, and hosts various ISD 518 music concerts throughout the school year.Any entity can rent the theater for their use; for example, local dance studios have traditionally done their recitals here. For years, the Auditorium regularly showed movies for the community as the city's movie theater situation was in flux. Another yearly tradition is a late summer children's theater production.Really, there's nothing else like it in the area, and the community/city have done a nice job of adapting the facility over the years. They recently replaced all the old seats with much more comfortable seats, lowering the capacity to 657 from 735. At one time, the capacity was, I believe, over 750, and was lowered during previous renovations. Still, they say it's the largest facility of its type in a wide area, and honestly, there's probably nothing bigger within close to an hour's drive in any direction.
