Switched from Walgreens to here because this place has my medication that Walgreens never seems to have. Quick service, friendly people, I’ve found my new pharmacy.

I moved here recently from Mobile, AL and Walgreen's would not accept my former doctor's hand written prescription because they said it was out of their servicing mileage range??????. I have used Walgreen's for 30 years in Mobile, AL and could not believe they would not accept a hand written precription but they did do auto refills on two of my previous prescriptions from the same doctor after I had changed my resident address . This is the most goofy thing I have ever in my life heard so I contacted my neice at Columbia Discount Drugs to see if they had any issues with taking my new prescription from my former doctor's last visit which was a week ago and they filled it with no issues. So now I am moving all of my business from Walgreen's to Columbia Discount Drugs and saying "goodbye" to Walgreen's stupid rules. I give Columbia Discount Drugs a 5 Star rating for this issue!!!

I transferred all my prescriptions here because I kept having problems with my last pharmacy.I filled a few with no issue, pretty common medications. But I called after a doctor visit to question when one of the most important medications would be ready. They said it would be ready in three days from the day I called. Sounds like plenty of time to order a drug right? It came time for me to pick it up and they were “out of stock” suddenly. I don’t know how true that was but I don’t believe it given how common this particular medication was, I think the person simply didn’t want to fill it for some reason. This happened on a Saturday, which means there was no option to call the doctor to have something different prescribed or to have a new prescription sent to another pharmacy that would be open over the weekend. Because of this, my medication was delayed until Monday. Not all bad news, considering they managed to get my insurance to authorize and pay for the medication. But it was still a long time to be without medication especially after I called (repeatedly, in fact) to be sure it would be ready, only to be told they’re “out of stock” when it came time to pick up.For now I’ll give two stars because they managed to fill it and have insurance billed properly for it (which the last pharmacy had trouble figuring out how to do). If the mistake doesn’t happen again I’ll update the review in the future accordingly. But no one decided it was important enough to explain how exactly the ball was dropped and what will be done to prevent it from happening again going forward. It’s a little galling to try to preempt possible issues and be assured that nothing will go wrong and then be told oops, we messed up with no explanation and barely an apology.I’m not a difficult customer to please but I do get upset if I’ve taken steps to mitigate possible problems and the business with whom I’m engaging doesn’t take the care to do the same on their end. I just want my medications to be filled at the same time every month, on time.Edit to update: service has improved. I am very pleasantly surprised that the issues I’d been having seem to be a thing of the past. If this continues I’ll update with a full five stars gladly. The only thing that is still very bothersome is that they, for whatever reason, don’t automatically refill medications when it’s time for the refill. You have to ask them to refill them, which 1.) takes up my time and their time and is inefficient since you can’t do this online, you have to call or go there and 2.) is wild to me because it’s unprofitable for them - they have customers who need the medication but may forget to ask for the refill or any number of other reasons they might just not be able to call, but you know they’re more likely than not still going to pick up and pay when they send the text to come get it. You’d think they’d make more money just refilling and automatically alerting the customer every time it’s possible to do so. If they fix that, then I’d have zero complaints.

My family has used this drug store for years. We have never had any issues until the last 4 or 5 months. Since then, the service has become HORRIBLE. EVERY single time we have had scripts filled in the last 4 or 5 months, something has been left out. We live 45 minutes away from the store and it’s not easy to make multiple trips because they can’t get the orders correct. While there are still one or two women that work the counter/window that are still just as friendly as can be, most of the new help that is hired has an attitude when you call or pick up your scripts. I don’t know why the service here has continued to decline. I previously took my business elsewhere but decided to give them another chance. That was a bad decision and me and my family will be finding another drug store to use. I only give them a 1 star because 0 wasn’t an option.
