First and last time renting from them

This will be my first and last time renting from Hertz at this airport.
From the beginning, the large, sassy male employee seated behind the desk had a dismissive attitude. I was given a Toyota Corolla that appeared muddy and not properly cleaned, with no inspection or walk-through—unlike other Hertz locations where staff inspect the vehicle and walk you to it.
After driving out from underneath the parking garage and seeing the car in proper lighting, it became clear how dirty the vehicle was, including the seats and floorboard. I drove the car home, then contacted customer support, opened a case, and was told a replacement would be provided.
After driving 30 minutes back to the airport based on that confirmation, the same employee was walking out the door. He looked at the car again while it was still parked underneath the garage and stated, “This car is clean, ma’am.” Staff then left the desk, leaving me waiting. I eventually had to walk outside to find him, where he was joined by several coworkers. At that point, the situation turned into a debate with multiple staff members arguing against me rather than working to resolve the issue.
I’m not sure why this even became a debate. When I am spending my own money on a rental vehicle, what staff personally consider “clean” should never be my concern. The company’s cleanliness standards should already be met before the car is handed to a customer.
I am attaching a few photos for reference. These images show only part of the condition of the vehicle and do not even include the exterior.
I was told the vehicle would not be exchanged unless there was a mechanical issue and was instead asked to wait for it to be washed in the parking garage. The temperature today was 35°.
I had photos and documentation available, but my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. This experience did not meet the level of service I’ve received at other Hertz locations, and I will not be returning to this one.

December 12, 2025. Never again will I use Hertz. Hertz customer service was indescribable bad. I can’t even begin to explain it. I rented a car for one night, twice in two weeks to get from the airport to my parents and back. Truly difficult to explain the misery of the people behind the desk and the wait to get a car.
There was NO ‘Hi, welcome to Hertz!’
It’s just all depression, you cannot comprehend a WORD they say, you just have to guess what they are saying. I have no words for the employees behind the desk, except Unbelieveable. Never again

This place sucks. The employees are rude, inefficient, and just terrible.

Worst Hertz location I have ever dealt with. You can not rely on them to have a car for you if you reserve one, or even count on them to be at the counter. My last visit they closed early and just left

After waiting an hour and a half for my car Nov 26th I arrived in their lot to a dirty car with noticeable damage. I did as anyone would do and took an in depth video of the vehicle in its assigned spot. Low and behold a week after the drop off to an empty counter due to understaffed area I receive a notice they are charging me due to the aforementioned damage (security told me to leave them in the lock box due to their being one person working and they couldn’t ring people up).
Attaching below the scrapes and stills from the video to put this on blast. I called customer support and they told me they had up to 72 hours to even issue me a bill before I could continue with an “investigation”. The car wasn’t properly maintained and popped an oil maintenance on our trip back. Overall 0 star experience

Total incompetence. DO NOT RENT from Hertz, if you need your car in a timely manner! Just like Dollar, and Thrifty, which they also rent for from the one counter at the airport, a reservation means nothing! They will make reservations all day long with no intentions of honoring them. This time, I was #10 on the waitlist for a car, better than #36 the last time when I rented thru Dollar. These folks are incompetent, at best. I come down here to check on my terminally ill father and don’t have time for this nonsense. I will go out of my way to avoid all Dollar, Thrift, AND Hertz in the future. If you need the car you reserved, I’d advise you to avoid them also!

Really bad, website allows you make a same day rental. I show up and even though I have a confirmation number. The location does not honor same day rentals. I asked how to prevent this from happening next time. They said I need to call the location the day of to confirm that they have cars. I tried it again for a same day rental, the phone rings and nobody ever picks up. Tried multiple times. Called Hertz corporate and they said the location had cars available and confirmed the phone number. Showed up and once again they have no cars, and they said that their phones don’t work…..
Just super impressive all the way around.
I would try to not waste your time at this location.

Flew into Jackson twice over the past two months. Both times I needed to wait over an hour for a car to become available for my reservation made a month prior to both flights. It seems to be servely understaffed but Hertz also doesn't seem to care (see laughable response from their online support). Honestly will be reconsidering Hertz as my rental car company of choice. No offers of any form of assistance or refunds to help make me as a customer feel appreciated.
The Avis counter next to Hertz had cars and were able to go through the full process of renting the car before I could even get mine.

If you don't reserve more than 24 hours in advance, you do not get a car. Period.
Arrived on a later flight, couldn't get the car, had to call an uber that cost 60-80 dollars each way. Plan ahead or plan to spend double your planned expenses.

It's like a highschool senior woke up one morning and was suddenly responsible for finding 100 people cars to drive for the week.

Hey Hertz at Jackson, MS (JAN) location. Are you starting to see a pattern of your employees closing the location early and leaving your customers stranded?
