On July 5, driving home to Amarillo, TX from Birmingham, our car broke down just before Mooreville. We began calling mechanics & Josh Roberts, owner of Heroes Auto Repair, answered. We managed to get our car to a gas station; Josh met us there. After clearing the computer codes, we were able to drive the half-mile to Josh's shop. He narrowed down the issue to a single solenoid in the transmission, but no parts store in town had the part. We asked if we needed to tow the car to the dealership & let them handle the repairs; Josh was confident he could get the part from the local Chevy dealership the next morning & get us on the road by the afternoon. He was truly our "hero." We rented a car & got a hotel for the night. Come Sat. morning, I discovered the Chevy service center was closed. I texted Josh asking if he would still be able to get the part even though they were closed; he said yes. My wife & I explored Tupelo, MS while we waited. At 1pm, I texted Josh asking the status, as we needed to figure out our plan because the rental car was due back in a few hours; he said the car would be ready in time. At 2:30pm, he called & said he wasn't able to get the part, but Chevy recommended flushing the transmission. When this didn't work, he called part stores in Memphis & found an O'Reilly's who had the part & asked if we would drive to pick it up; we immediately headed that way. I felt I needed to call the O'Reilly's to verify; they didn't have the part. Obviously, we were going to have to leave our car for a week. Josh was confident that he would have the part by Tues. & have the car repaired by the middle of the week, allowing us to return the following weekend. We rented a car & returned home. I called Josh Tuesday to find that the part didn't arrive as expected, but would be there the next day. I made it clear I needed him to keep me posted, as the status would dictate what plans would be, including which vehicle we brought with us. Come Wed, all my texts & calls went unanswered. I called again Thursday morning, with no answer; so my father-in-law decided to try calling. After 4 unsuccessful calls, he called the Sheriff asking for a wellness check (yes...I thought that was funny too); it was confirmed that Josh was at Heroes Auto Repair. Finally, Josh answered my call: "I am putting it back together right now & you'll be able to pick it up on Sat. after I've had the chance to test it." We left bright & early from Arkansas (staying w/ family) on Sat. morning. Upon arrival at Heroes at 10:30am, Josh said, "I really think you need to tow it to the dealership & let them do the repairs." He continued to say he wasn't going to charge me for the work he had done. We began calling tow trucks & dealerships to get the car out of there. Josh returned the keys to me when I asked him, "I need to know something...WHY did you tell me that the car was going to be ready if you didn't do anything to it?" Josh began feeding me a bunch of crap about how busy he was w/ other customers & all the things going on in his PERSONAL LIFE. To save you the details, I let into Josh pretty harshly...asking why he lied to me all week long, when he knew I had to drive 860 miles (one-way); had I known the car wouldn't be fixed I could have brought another car to tow with. He never addressed why he lied to me, but only reiterated his personal problems & that he isn't charging me for the work he did. At that point my wife made me step away & insisted we pay for the work Josh did; asking how much he was out, Josh said he was only out the transmission fluid for the flush. WHAT?! He NEVER got the part that he told me was in the car that would be ready on Saturday! Luckily, the tow truck arrived before I could strangle him. The rest of the story is irrelevant to this review. Our car is still in Mississippi. Josh Roberts, owner & mechanic at Heroes Auto Repair, is a lying wea
