“If you want to stay in a place that feels like you’re coming to visit a favorite aunt that always has a room available for you, this is the place. If you like house museums but hate being shuffled from room to room this is the opposite. There are no velvet ropes and if you want to rub the velvet sofa or marble fireplace, you can. If you like good ole fashioned southern food where the tea is sweet, the eggs are scrambled just right and the grits have seasoning, this is the place. A bonus is there are only three rooms available so you won’t be crowded. There are ten acres of garden and woods if you fancy a stroll and there a two dogs that act as doorbells when anyone knocks and will bump you or hand you a paw if you don’t pet them. I slept so soundly and had a good ole fashioned chin wag with the owner and when I wanted to soak up the atmosphere, there is an old church pew out on the gigantic front porch. Did I mentioned the owner is a maximalist and book collector? Not one but three libraries.”

Stanton Hall is breathtaking. It stands proudly above the surrounding buildings in all its pristine white grandeur, and from the moment you see it, you know you are about to experience something special. The architecture is stunning, and it's almost hard to believe that someone once actually lived in a place like this. I'll admit, I felt a little jealous.

What makes the experience even more extraordinary is how beautifully preserved the house is. Most of what you see inside is authentic, not replicas or generic period pieces, but real objects from the past. Walking through the rooms, you are struck by the opulence of the décor, the refined taste, and the craftsmanship of the 19th century, a level of artistry we rarely get to enjoy today. Even the smallest details, from hinges and doorknobs to bookcases, are exquisite, unique, and thoughtfully made.

The house truly transports you to another era and offers a glimpse into how Americans once lived and dreamed. It is not just a tour, it is a journey back in time.
