Authentic Old General Store with a superb kitchen! Six of us ate on a Friday night, getting five different EXCELLENT entrees from their varied but limited evening menu. Delicious!

Love Onward Store!! Everything we have eaten there is delicious!! We drive 1 1/2 hours up to Onward to eat lunch. Megan is so nice and all other employees are too. Love the atmosphere of the old store!!

I didn't get a chance to eat there this time, it was closed,...but every time I visit my home of Cary MS and Rolling Fork MS,...I make it my business to stop by Onward even just for a few photo ?

Beside the TEDDY ROOSEVELT BEAR HUNT HISTORICAL MARKET is this quaint road stop restaurant, museum, store reminding us of what once happened near here. Hadn’t heard of HOLT COLLIER, Teddy’s R’s guide when the TEDDY BEAR came into being. Bought the book here and can’t put it down. Stop, take in the HISTORY and enjoy.

I normally don’t leave reviews but with this one I have to. We were so excited to eat at the Onward store. We drove two hours to eat there because of the history. We did not get there until 5 pm and could only order off of the dinner menu which was very disappointing. We started with the redneck sampler ($15) which was suppose to have alligator but instead we are pretty sure it was sausages cut up and fired, Keebler crackers, cube cheese and pimiento cheese. When our meal arrived, I had ordered an onward burger and it was totally disgusting. My wife had ordered the red fish, which was good but it was so small not worth $27 at all. Her meal was supposed to come with a biscuit but the lady from the kitchen came out and asked her if she wanted the biscuit or not. When we went to pay the cashier was rude and acted like she didn’t even want to wait on us. Not worth the $62 we spent there at all. The only good thing was the sweet tea. Extremely disappointed after reading all the reviews before we went. We will not be back. I really don’t want to leave one star but I can not post unless I do

Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Huge portions of great food and a history lesson while you wait. Home of the most famous hunt in history and the birthplace of the teddy bear.

Terrible service, husband sat in restaurant waiting for friend for 20 minutes, no one asked to help him the whole time. Friend showed up, sat with him, still another 20 to 30 minutes later after he got there, still no one even ask him if they could help him. Needless to say& I won't say what he said to them,he left & Im doubting that he will go back

Best biscuits I've ever had, anywhere, hands down! Homemade apple butter was outstanding too, and that's just as a bonus for the biscuit! The shrimp I had were very good and had a GREAT flavor, even though I'm generally apprehensive of dishes cooked with wine! Burgers are solid too for lunch, but I have yet to try a steak. Please stop in and give my favorite little place since childhood (through a few different owners and facelifts) a try, I promise you will enjoy it!

Right smack in the middle of nowhere Onward is a gem of a stop. Combo old country store and restaurant it is worth the stop. Don’t be in a hurry for your food though, but it’s worth the wait. The fried shrimp with onion rings have the perfect batter! Hamburger and house chips was good too!! Stop here you’ll like it!!
