After leaving Virginia years ago I've tried to find a place to call my own. My wife and I found this place and there's no other place that we have found that accommodates us so well. Clean bathrooms with showers, lots of parking and friendly staff. Campsite 1 is big enough for a small army and the seven-mile float is perfect for one day. Plenty of places to swim on the river. We are customers for life!!

Equipment was adequate and the restrooms were clean when we were done kayaking we were able to shower and change clothes. (Note for guests: please keep the river clean.)

Really fun outdoor experience to be had here! Most of the employees are on the younger side, and doing this as a summer job, but let me tell you.... They're all fun, polite, and have great customer service skills!! It's a little on the pricy side for kayak rental, BUT you're getting shuttle to the launch point, shuttle back to the facility, and you don't have to deal with hauling a kayak around at all. Just get in, paddle down river, and get out at the end! There's several fun drops, and rapids to play on. Many sandbars to stop at and picnic. Total chill place to cool off during our hot summers.

I've been going here since I was a child. Beautiful and relaxing kayak/canoe trip. The rapids made it a thrill to traverse. The accommodations at the lodge are clean and well taken care of. The staff are friendly and professional. I could go on.

My family and I love Okatoma Canoe & Kayak rentals. We’ve kayaked here multiple times a year for over six years. However, unlike in the past, you MUST reserve your kayaks or canoes in advance. Lack of reservations has been a minor issue in the past due to us making last minute decisions on a busy weekend (that’s our fault). But it’s gotten to where you have to secure a kayak well in advance before going to Okatoma. This is just speculation, but I do wonder if Okatoma has fewer kayaks and canoes now than they did in the past. We saw a lot of personal kayaks being utilized the day we were turned away due to lack of reservations. The parking lot wasn’t even that full (another bystander even said they’ve seen this place much busier before), but I guess everybody reserved their choice of vessel and planned to show up later in the day.All I’ve got to say is reservations are pretty much a requirement now. That or BYOK (bring your own kayak).

First time kayaking. (I'm terrible at kayaking) They hooked our whole group up with kayaks, bussed us to the launch site, and picked us up. Service was efficient and they got us back alive. Would love to go again.

We rented a tandem kayak and floated down the 7 mile stretch. Everyone was very nice with getting us set up and going. We went early March so it was still a little cool. There are a few falls and ripples so expect to get wet and plan accordingly.

Staff was rude!! Almost lost my life in a drowning accident and they could have cared less about getting me the help I needed instead they was worried about making a dollar. Making sure my friends got all the kayaks back on the sandbar when I was unresponsive. Got back to the store by bus bc none of the stuff would call an ambulance. Once ambulance got there they come out the store and told the ambulance service they had to move out from awning bc this is a place of business. My family called back up there the next day to talk to manager about what happened and was told manager wasn't there. We called for 3 straight days and never heard from manager or nobody. My family and friends have commented on posted to warn people about the hole I got stuck in and they just remove the comments

Just all in all really disappointed with my experience. I'll start with what they did really well. The facilities were amazing. The store was nice and easy to navigateThe transportation was easy to figure out and everything was set up for when we got out.My issue was with the river itself and the customer service. They told us nothing besides where the exit is. No instructions for when we got off the bus, when we were waiting for the bus, or anything else in-between. The people weren't warm or friendly and asking questions felt like a burden for the staff. The most important issue was the river is horribly maintained. The current throws you into downed trees and without a waiver, it seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I brought my family and it was quite the struggle, and they won't even do so much as to put up warning signs. Until they remove the trees at the exit of the rapids, I can't reccomend kayaking here.

Nice outfitters, they handle everything but the paddling. I brought my own boat, they loaded it, ported it, and took it out of the water and loaded for me. Very friendly and helpful.

This was a great, affordable experience for the family. We went on a fairly busy day, but... the operation was smooth. Parking was convienent, ample facilities for getting cleaned up afterwards, and the trip down the river was a leisurely commune with nature.
