My elderly mother was having surgery and I needed insurance to be able to drive her car to appointments, etc. so I checked with Direct and put a deposit down. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to me, my mother added me on to her policy at a much cheaper rate so I cancelled Direct and was told my money would be refunded in a few days.I was shocked when I received a check for $23.00. I was never told I would be charged over $100 for a cancellation fee. I wasn't told about any fee at all. I am shopping for a car now and when I find it I will not be purchasing my insurance through direct.
