Just like the General Stores that were in the Old West. Pretty cool. I bought a T Shirt and Screwdriver as a souvenir.
Gladys Presley brought her son Elvis to the store to buy a birthday gift. Elvis wanted a rifle, but instead left with Guitar—a moment many view as the starting note of his legendary music career. The original counter and shelves remain in place, and an “X” marks the spot where Elvis stood.

.. what a very cool place to visit. Whether you're into history or not, this store is literally stepping back in time. Great to stand where the late King Elvis Presley stood. Everything seems to be exactly as it was when George H Booth stood across the counter and chatted with young Elvis and his momma..

Tourist stop. Interesting. They don't have hardware stores like this anymore.

You can’t come to Tupelo without visiting the Tupelo Hardware Store. So much history here and Floyd knows it all. Enjoy.

Enjoyed talking with the sales person, lots of good stories and the decor looks like an old time hardware store. Also good tshirts.

Go stand in the spot where rock and roll started. The store reminded me of going to the hardware with my Papaw. The two guys there were wonderful to chat with.

Nostalgic, but don't go looking for a wooden hammer handle, they told me they didn't have any and hadn't in many many years.

Friendly folks. Awesome old time hardware store. Walk in the footsteps of the king. They still sell guitars to this day plus thousands of other items. Will definitely be back with my hard to find hardware list.

The friendliest hardware staff ever! Very welcoming, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. Spend local. Why go anywhere else? The store is just as it was when Elvis was a boy. Same cabinets, floor, ceiling, etc. Check it out!

Unfortunately the Tupelo Hardware Company was closed the day I visited, but from looking through the windows we can see why the store had been in business for about 90 years. Well stocked and attractive. They sold the first guitar to Elvis as a boy and still sell nearly 300 guitars a year. From home ornaments to small engine parts they run a successful local business for the community.

It’s like stepping back in time. Tupelo should be proud of this place.
