If you’re looking for a swank spot, pass this up. It’s a gas station in the middle of nowhere. Actually Walthall isn’t the middle of nowhere, it’s the county seat, but it feels like the middle of nowhere. This is an older gas station. The booths are a bit worn, and the decor is.... gas station. BUT, if you are more interested in the food than the decor and place settings, you’ll probably love this place. Family owned and operated, the lady who runs it is super nice and friendly. Good iced tea. They have several versions of their steak sandwich. One is on sourdough bread. We chose the steak supreme on our last visit. Delicious. Grilled peppers and onions made it just right. The fries are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. We’ve been here five or six times. Each time the food was excellent. Sometimes the tables aren’t quite clean, but it’s a one-woman show, so we make allowances for that. Truly a local spot. The five star rating is based on the goodness of the food and the niceness of the lady who runs it. Come for lunch, and you’ll be a repeat customer too.
