Universal Auto Plaza sold me a 2020 Toyota Tundra at full retail price and lied to me about the truck. From the very first time I test drove the truck it had a problem starting. Turn the key and it cranked about 20 times before starting. I informed the salesperson about that problem and she said it's nothing to worry about, the truck already went through their inspection process and there was nothing wrong with the truck. It's a great truck in perfect condition. If it continues to have problems then call them back and let them know.After purchasing the truck (on a near empty tank) I went to the gas station and discovered immediately that there's a problem. It would only let me fill gas about $8 at a time before it would stop, on a roughly $100 gas tank to fill. Then noticed we could smell gas inside the cab of the truck. I called back the dealership who sold me the truck with a 5 year/Unlimited miles warranty for anything electrical or mechanical about the issue and they tried to tell me that they wouldn't cover the diagnostic or the repairs on the truck, I would have to pay out of pocket, and they would not give me a loaner vehicle either. Only after writing a 1 star review about my experience did the GM reach out to me saying that they would look at it and fix whatever was wrong with it and honor the warranty they sold.They had my truck for about a week and supposedly replaced a bad fuel pump, spark plugs, and cleaned the throttle body because it was gunked up. That seemed to fix the filling gas and the gas leak problem, though my wife says she can still smell gas inside the truck. The starting issue was not resolved.I should also mention that when they ran a diagnostic on the truck it was throwing errors. Which Toyota also confirmed. If they had actually ran a proper inspection on the truck before selling it then they would have caught this immediately.Now that it's cold I discover another problem with the truck. The heat only blows out of the passenger side, not the drivers side.After this dealership having the truck for almost a week doing that, plus whatever time they spent inspecting the truck before selling it to me and there still being issues I decided to take it to the Toyota dealership and let them diagnose the problems and run a full inspection on the truck and figure it out, knowing that I would have to pay out of pocket myself, just to get an honest inspection and diagnostic. They looked at it for 5 days, it kept throwing errors no matter what they did. Turns out the truck had been flooded, up to the windshield.

I’ve never had any experience with universal before I’ve always gone to big dealerships for vehicles and after this experience im only angry I didn’t come here sooner. They have a great staff. Everyone there was helpful and responsive to any questions I had. The truck I got was below kbb price , as well as almost every other car they have. it seems they’re out to help people rather than make things hard. Tanya was great to me and got me in my truck, and the manager Randy was awesome , I would recommend this place to everyone just based on management alone.

I purchased my 2017 Chevy Silverado LTZ less than 6 months ago and have put under 6000 miles on and it already needs a new transmission.When purchasing a vehicle from universal it is stated over and over that they check their vehicles thoroughly replace and fix any issues prior to selling any vehicle on the lot, that was not my experience. Within 2 weeks of purchase brakes needed changed universal changed them for free, a couple weeks later truck tailgate mechanism rusted and broke they replaced that for free as well.Now! Truck was driving a little rough took it in to get checked and serviced. Mechanic stated transmission fluids where full but extremely dirty, transmission pan had LOTs of medal shavings and the transmission will need replaced.Attached are photos of just some of the medal shaving from transmission, and mechanics remarks. Thank you universal.

Would highly recommend speaking with Tanya when going to purchase a vehicle. Super sweet, and genuinely wants to see you get the ride you want at a price you can afford, and she will do her best to make sure of it. Great service from everyone, very welcoming. Highly recommend ????

I bought a car here in 2022 and both the windshield moldings on either side had clips missing so they stick out. They issued an “I owe you” for me to get them fixed so I scheduled an appointment to come back when the windshield guy was in. I went to the appointment to find out he wasn’t there that day so they gave me his contact info and he pretty much ghosted me. This summer I needed my alternator and air compressor replaced and asked about my windshield clips again to which they said “sorry, the I owe you is only good for 30 days” how convenient.. 2 weeks after getting my car back a message pops up saying “refill coolant”. I’ve had to refill the coolant each month since getting my car “fixed” here. The guy who sold me the car was nice and helpful but that’s about it. Do NOT rely on their service center to fix anything.

10/10 i would highly recommend!! I am so pleased with the service i received both times i bought from universal! The customer service was outstanding and the product was exactly what i was looking for. Pricing on the cars and your trade in will be fair, the buying process is easy, and i left with a great deal on my new/used 2018 dodge journey. Tanya Reed is awesome and definitely delivered service with a smile! I cant express enough how pleased with the service i received from this business. They weren't super pushy and in fact demonstrated patience with me which made the decision making easy for me too bc i was able to think straight and process things. They went above and beyond to help me find the perfect car!!

Wide selection of used cars. Super great at giving info for the cars, showed us all the paperwork and blue book valuation upfront. Straightforward pricing, did not tack on random fees like other dealers do. We worked with Chris and he was helpful and honest throughout the process, kept us updated on the car while we took more time to think about it. Got my Ford Escape here and have had it for about 2 months now, no issues, runs great and nice clean engine. Highly recommend this dealership, would buy here again!

Very friendly staff. Derek and Tanya both went above and beyond to help me get the car that's just right for us. No pressure at all. Can't find a better staff here! Transparency on car fax report and all problems and current repairs at my fingertips. Questions needing the mechanic, he helped too! Great experience and will be back for our next vehicle.

My son needed a more appropriate vehicle in order to tow a new trailer and head off to college. We scoured the internet and found 7 trucks in Kansas City that would suit his needs. The top contender was located at Universal Auto Plaza—a dealer we had not previously heard of. We drove over on a Sunday afternoon and took a quick look at the car, then left a voice mail. We got an immediate email back (despite the dealer being closed on Sunday). I had a quick trip to make out of town Mon/Tuesday, but we set up time Wednesday to go back and take a test drive and possibly make a purchase. On Wednesday, we received absolutely top-tier service from our salesman (Derek), and also great work with the manager and finance director. We were trading a 10 year old Jeep, and reached a fair trade difference without hassle. Within an hour, our credit was approved, paperwork was done, and my son was driving off the lot in a new truck.I’ve probably purchased 15 or more cars in the past 30 years. This dealership made the process so quick and painless, it was (dare I say?) enjoyable!Color me pleased and surprised. This wasn’t Baron BMW or Aristocrat—we were just buying a used truck for our son. But honestly, that’s the level of service and professionalism we experienced at Universal. Tanya helped me at the Bluesprings lot. There is a very good selection to choose from with good prices. I wasn't there much longer then a hour before everything was done and I had my keys. I'd recommend Universal Auto plaza to a friend.

This is the second car in two years that I bought here. Both times, Tanya was our Sales Representative. To be honest, she is why I wanted to go back. Secondly was the Blue Mustang that I had been watching for a while. Tanya and the Manager did their best to make the best deal, and the best experience, as we looked at the car and went for a drive. I truly enjoyed the experience and the professional people who made everything work out for me. All of the folks make Universal an amazing place, and Tanya is very knowledgeable about the vehicles and making a great deal. So, I am blessed to have found this business, and Tanya.. Thanks again, I have my dream car.

Derek Graves is the man if you want to get the car you want at a price that is right for you. Full of laughter, and made the car buying experience easy and enjoyable! I made a call to Universal Auto Plaza and talked with Turner regarding a vehicle that I was interested in. He gave me all the details that I needed and from our conversation over the phone, I decided to make the drive. For me it was about 20 miles away. When I arrived I met Turner. He was very friendly, courteous and professional. My experience at Universal Auto and the process went very smooth. I wasn’t pressured into buying anything, they just wanted me to be satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend this dealership and the service I received from Turner to anyone.
