“I have used them the last two years. I chose a particular tax preparer because of my complex returns and her expertise. I thought everything was perfect. When I picked up my taxes this year I asked what rate the state of MO charged for social security tax. She insisted it was federal all over. Understand the federal tax, but wanted info on the state. So I repeated my question and got the same answer. It is not the same from state to state. Federal taxes are, but each state has their own percentage. I have lived in states that have zero income tax and that includes your social security for your state return. Then, this week I get a refund check from the IRS because I over paid my taxes. These folks are extremely nice. I will go back and hopefully with the new income tax law in MO there won’t be confusion there. And hopefully I don’t overpay federal again. I never thought I’d be thankful to the IRS, LOL.”
