My family and I were excited to visit Jigglin' George, as my dad was ready to purchase the $500 New Life Bed Exerciser. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing and upsetting.
As we entered the store, my mom asked if I wanted to try the machine. Before I could even respond, the associate looked me up and down and bluntly asked, “Wait, are you pregnant?” I was stunned. As a woman who has struggled with PCOS and infertility, this comment was not only inappropriate—it was deeply hurtful and embarrassing.
As a business owner myself with years in retail, I can say with certainty that it's common knowledge: you never assume or ask if someone is pregnant. There are professional, respectful ways to communicate health risks (such as for those with blood clots, medical conditions, or pregnancy), and this was not it.
We left feeling disappointed and disrespected. I hope the team at Jigglin' George reflects on how they speak to their customers and the impact their words can have.
