We brought our vehicle there for an alignment. They told us that we needed to pay around $600-1000 because something else was broken and the alignment couldn't be performed. (can't remember the exact total because it has been over a year since this happened - we regret not writing this sooner) We said we will just come get it. Well, then they said that it isn't driveable because they were working on it and it was so rusty that a bolt snapped, so we really didn't have a choice. We instead decided to tow it to another mechanic. He said that it didn't need to be towed, it was 100% driveable. AND he fixed it (replaced a ball joint that was rusty and stuck) for $100. We proceeded to drive the car for another year (nervously, due to what Campus Auto had told us) but we had zero problems out of it. We believe we were lied to and they attempted to hold our car ransom. We are so happy that we towed it elsewhere. Be careful of any expensive, surprise work that NEEDS to be performed on your car when you bring it there for a run of the mill repair. Needless to say, we have told everyone that we know about this experience and I am sure that it has cost them much more than what they attempted to extort us for.

They were kind to my son and worked on the vehicle promptly, but I don’t believe this is a place one should go with a major issue. My son is a student at SEMO and visited campus auto and tire with the check engine light. While they followed the diagnostic and replaced engine coils and spark plugs, it was a costly repair ($1205) that should’ve also involved a discussion of the possibility it could be the next step in the diagnostic, which was a head gasket failure before the repair was done. He returned with the vehicle a second time when the check engine light remained on and was told it needed a head gasket.
After a second opinion at three shops, two of which physically inspected the vehicle, all of them agreed that he should’ve been at least warned that the head gasket could be the issue and that should have been investigated before replacing the coils. One said they should have never thought it was the coils based on their assessment. We did the head gasket repair for an additional cost of $3500 at another shop. My son requested a refund of some of the cost of the engine coil repair since it was not the true problem and they declined and offered the explanation to both of us that they just went step by step through the diagnostic. I live several hours away and was traveling when the incident occurred. I wish I could’ve handled it on his behalf for possibly a better resolution. It was a costly lesson for both of us.

The folks at Campus are always super courteous and helpful and efficient! I've never had an issue with them charging me for things that I don't need and that's why I always go local versus corporate for my vehicle needs. ?

Its ok. 75 bux to run a diognostic test just to replace a bulb. Wouldnt take a chance and just replace the bulb per my request excluding them from all libilities. I just find this a bit rediculus. Otherwise services are good

Great customer service, very reasonable pricing, efficient--only had to wait 30 minutes for work to be completed even though I was a walk-in.

Too expensive.. I had to pay $66 for the labor cost of just replacing a tail light. I gave the parts (light system) and it took them approximately 10 minutes to replace it. It is very unfair to charge $66 for just replacing a tail light.

My father is a diesel mechanic. He has been one for decades. Usually when my car breaks down I take it to him. My father has since aged into his 60s and no longer has a garage. When my husband's thermostat went out we went ahead and put his car in the shop at Campus Auto. The mechanic told us that the motor fan that cools the engine was going out. We had them replace the motor fan and I told my dad. My dad requested that my husband ask the shop for the old fan. We paid the shop, picked up the car and drove it home. I took the old fan to my father. My father hooked up the old fan and tested it. The fan started up.

I took my car into this place because my thermostat went out and my check engine light was on. They did diagnostics and they said it was the thermostat. I went to pick the car up after they replaced the thermostat and they told me that the radiator fan was going out and the engine wasn't cooling. They kept my car over the weekend and I paid them almost $1000. I went to get my car and I noticed a leak on the opposite side of the car . I went back inside and told the mechanics that it was leaking antifreeze. A mechanic went and looked at my car. They told me that the mechanic who worked on my car spilt antifreeze on the engine. I brought it home and I parked it. The next morning it was still leaking on the same side. I brought it back in and they said it was the antifreeze bottle that was leaking. They said that the antifreeze bottle got too hot and the nipple was brittle and broke. They cut my car down and called my car cheap. I paid them to fix that and then brought it home and now it's leaking more antifreeze. I called them and told them and they said they would charge me to look at it. It wasn't leaking antifreeze until after I took it there. I'm out over $1100 and the car is still not fixed. I kept the radiator fan that they said wasn't running right. My father-in-law who is a diesel mechanic tested the old fan at his home and it worked. I feel cheated and taken advantage of. I don't appreciate how they talked about my car. Don't go here.
