Cooks were rude and said he didn't feel like grilling onions for a burger. We were the only customers at the time so they were not busy but acted like we were a nuisance. Burgers tasted like they were boxed frozen freezer

My favorite burger in the world. Sized like an old school burger, perfect combination of greasy and cheesy. We go from Kansas City to roaring River to go trout fishing, and this is a must stop place both coming and going. We always grab a bag for the drive back to KC.

This place has lived rent-free in my head since I was a young child. I don't live in Carthage, my family does, but I'd spend my youthful summers there, annually. My grandmother would send us kids, on our bikes, across town to get bags of burgers with the chips in the brown bags, and send us to the park on those lovely summer evenings to either get out of the house (give her some peace lol) or we'd be at the ballpark watching my uncles or cousins playing a game or two.Whisler's holds so many fond memories for me, and I love the simple menu with the great food! My fave double cheeseburger is grilled goodness on a bun made to order fast. I love old-time grills, and these burgers hold nostalgia well. Every time I'm in or near Carthage, I make a special trip before I head back west to CO.I'll end with two things: 1. They pack well in luggage and 2. They travel well via FedEx overnight.Whisler's will always hold a special place in my heart and stomach. Thanks for the consistent and delightful memories ❤️ ?

I’ve had burgers all over the world and this place is number 1. Their farmer burger is the perfect burger. Fresh pickles, red onion, ham and bacon with cheese. I drive an hour to go get them because well like I said they are number 1.

Not a single thing changed since the 70's that I could see. I grew up in Carthage and have never had a better double cheeseburger anywhere. The flavor and griddle-basted buns with grade -A beef, it's simply memorable!!! Yes, smashburgers in NYC, In & Out burgers in southern California are good, as is many others but Whistlers will take your tastebuds back in time and they haven't lost a single step. Well worth the detour off the 4-lane to try it. Thank me later
