I shop at Hy-Vee a lot because its so close to my house and convenient. The positives: the store is very clean, well lit and well stocked. Friendly employees.
The negatives: the prices are high on many products, especially compared to several other stores in town, the rewards system (fuel saver) is not great, and the recent switch away from the self check-out is fine in theory, except oftentimes it is much slower, especially when not enough folks working the lanes.

I don’t usually shop at this store, but I stopped in to grab a few things. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Two of the items I picked up didn’t have barcodes, and instead of staff assisting, we were the ones who had to go back and find the prices ourselves. To make matters worse, when we got home and opened the jar of sauce we had just purchased, we discovered mold inside. Definitely not the experience I was expecting, and I left feeling pretty let down by the quality and service.
