Came in for a body scan last night. Everything was great until I was on my way out. The girl helping me out told me, “we offer free meal prep when you want to actually get serious about your goals.” I said thanks and left, but I couldn’t shake the phrasing of that sentence.
When I want to actually get serious? This might seem like a ridiculous thing to complain about, but this language made me feel taken aback. The phrasing came off as dismissive, even if the intention was to encourage me. The way she framed it implied that I wasn’t already serious about my goals, which is undermining when I’ve been putting in effort.
The employee probably didn’t mean to offend me, but I wanted to still say something about this experience so that the next person who comes in doesn’t have to hear that and beat themselves up because they haven’t taken their health and fitness “serious” yet.

The supplement superstore I went to was in Columbia and the employees were really nice, we got test samples of protein powders and they helped me and my friends know a little more about workout advice. I would recommend anyone who needs help, go there!
