Pros: Tortillas! Best ever. Location is great as they're only a few blocks from where I live. Cons: The meat in the steak tacos was extremely dry. They diced the steak into such small pieces that it was almost like ground beef. The pork and lengua tasted fine but both had a paste like texture, while I prefer meat to be like meat. The menudo was ok but once again they chopped everything up too fine. I was a bit taken by surprise when I looked at the menu; compared with prices on the menu photo someone else posted just 2 years ago, everything had gone up by 25-50%. Things have become more expensive for sure but seriously?

The son of a dear friend is the owner of this authentic Mexican grocery and countertop restaurant. It is a family business and the welcoming feeling entering the store is truly great. The flour tortillas are made fresh there in a large machine visible from the counter. The menu has many different meats and sauces that can be served either in a taco, flautas or gorditas. I tried carne asada and pork verde tacos which were outstanding! I did the same two items served in gorditas. Everything is so reasonably priced making it a great casual lunch spot. They have large bowls of different types of soups that I will be trying when the weather is cooler. The grocery has many unique Mexican meats and dry goods items and I just had to purchase one of their habanero sauces which was outstanding. As many of the clientele there were Spanish speaking, I will go back not only for the great street style tacos but to brush up on my Spanish. It is such a beautiful sounding language that I studied in school but haven't had much opportunity to use. As I write this, I am thinking I need to go back for lunch tomorrow!

Definitely a hidden gem in Ellisville. One of the best tacos I've had in St. Louis. Small, hole in the wall market with a small built in food stand. Greeted by one of the workers /owners and he was very friendly. He assured me this wouldn't be like any other Mexican food I've had and he was right. You can tell the authenticity with every bite. I will be back!

Hidden gem out in Ellisville. Very unassuming location across from Audi dealership. Tacos served at the counter of a family owned market. The barbacoa tacos were divine. Will definitely go back for more. Already craving them!

This is a hidden gem in Ellisville. We popped in for a quick lunch. They have a nice selection of Tacos, Flautas, and gorditas. I ordered the gorditas in Carne Asada and Chicken. Both were delicious. Fresh and full of flavor. My husband got the bean soup and a few tacos. All were really good. The menu isn't huge but they do a great job with what they make. The owner is friendly and is working to build the business during these crazy times. We will definitely go back.

Really great hidden gem located in Ellisville, and the only problem is they are closed on Monday's. At La Tiendita they have a small market where they offer delicious Mexican sauces, produce, canned goods, Mexican sodas and chips, cuts of meat, tortillas etc. La Tiendita also has a small menu of fresh house made tacos, flautas, gorditas with your choice of very tasty cuts of meat like slow braised barbacoa, chili verde pork, lengua, pollo pibil (shredded chicken.) As an added bonus, La Tiendita has wire services to send money anywhere Moneygram. Overall this place is hiding in plain sight and must be visited regularly for satiating any Mexican cravings. There are many regulars who come here, and for fast service call in your order in English or Spanish!
