They don't let you choose your food items(for people with diet restrictions), just awful leftover pantry items that not many people eat like canned okra or tons of sugar in their processed food items. Also no produce or dairy or meat there. Just useless pantry items as of 2023.Will be checking out better food pantries and never going to waste my time again with food I can't eat(salt & sugar)!

It’s good that they pick up their phone. I’ve been calling since the end of May leading o into the beginning of June. As soon as they opened is when I was calling. Every since I been calling since that point of time she keeps saying funds running low to call back. Called today and she finally said funds are gone. She was saying things like first come, first serve but a everytime I would call I couldn’t even set up an appointment l, very suspicious

Every time you call in the lady that answers the phone is so rude, she doesn’t let you ask any questions, she just cuts you off. They are there to help but it seems as though they don’t really want to. Let’s normalize talking to customers with respect!!!

My son and his girlfriend currently reside in my home which is in the Grandview school district. They have four children attending school in the district. Since they're on a limited income ,as many people are, and can't afford school supplies for all of the kids. It was suggested that they see if GAP could help. She went to the office and didn't have all the required documents so a second appointment was scheduled. She left that office in tears, not because they couldn't help but because she was treated so rudely. I went with her the second time because she needed a letter from me stating that they all lived with me.I chose to wait and write the letter in front of the case worker do that they could witness this. The case worker was rude about getting me a piece of paper to do this. As I'm writing this letter she proceeded to talk down to my future daughter in law and was very condescending. I stopped writing the letter and got up. I told her to get her things back as we were leaving. I stated that I would make sure I found a way to pay for the supplies. In order to do this I need to put off paying for my medication that I take for a brain tumor, which I stated to the case worker. I also stated to the caseworker that she was extremely rude and that nobody deserved to be treated that way or talked down to. I am embarrassed for this program to have someone as unfriendly and cranky working for them. This program was created to help people, not belittle them or make them feel worse about their situation. How disappointing that the directors would allow someone with such a nasty disposition work with people who are not only in need of assistance but in need of kindness during difficult times.

I was trying to help a homeless person and I brought him to The GAP. We were immediately dismissed at the front door before we were able to speak with anyone. We were treated like we were unwanted dogs. We weren’t even given the dignity of an explanation as to why we were being told to back up out of the doorway. There was no mention of anything at all. We were just told to back up and then the door was shut in our faces and locked.I cannot imagine how an organization that is supposed to be helping needy people can treat people so inhumanly. How awful to be homeless and desperate and uncertain about ones circumstances and then be humiliated by people who are supposedly helping indigent people. Everyone deserves common respect regardless of whatever unfortunate state that has befallen them. Whether untreated mental illness, job loss and subsequent eviction, healthcare diagnosis, or some others reason that leads to not having a place lay ones head out of the harsh elements. It is not right to treat the most vulnerable of human beings like refuse.
