Communication is key when it comes to customer service ,especially when we’re talking vehicle repairs. I’ve used AAMCO many times but not this location. I’m extremely impressed, the communication has been great and they’ve earn my future business. Kim is all star and she takes great pride in making sure you as the customer are getting the experience you deserve. From working with you on cost to finding the best parts. Kim and her team are going to get it done and done right! Great experience.! Highly Recommended!!

I'd give zero stars if it let me. Unfortunately, this AAMCO shop is owned by an out-of-state entity that operates multiple locations, and they have lost touch with their customer base. I am not impressed by the quality of their work or terrible customer service.
In July 2022, I experienced intermittent steering issues and was lured in by their free diagnosis. They had my car for over 8 business days to conclude that my steering motor just wasn't working. They quoted me about $2k and it took them almost another two weeks to replace. So after three total weeks with no car -- at least it's fixed now...or so I thought.
Four months later, the power steering mechanism once again wasn't working and this time it was a safety concern - it would lock up intermittently and unexpectedly while driving. That took 5 more days leaving my car with them to even to ADMIT it had failed and honor their warranty and replace it (ultimately they did replace it after I proved it was failing by showing them videos of the steering wheel locking up).
13 months later my power steering WENT OUT AGAIN (this time it was noisy and rough to turn), so I took my car back and this time they quoted nearly $3k to REPLACE IT ANOTHER TIME. They wouldn't give me any breaks (my warranty was only good for 12mos) or even provide a receipt for the part (they claimed to be using parts acquired through Ford and I wanted to reach out to Ford directly to address this).
Ultimately, I had another nearby shop look at it (Ryans on Truman Rd.) and they had the part ordered and installed in only one day.
*UPDATE* the owner reached out (below) and asked for me to email about this. I did and still haven't heard back.

Don't let your elderly grandma or really anyone go here! She was charged $195 for a "diagnosis" and guess what it was?! Needs a new transmission and a TIPM. A transmission shop saying it needs a new transmission?!!And they only want $4600 to get Grandma back on the road...
This obviously caused a stir with the family because of course grandma doesn't have that kind of money just sitting around. After I caught wind of this I asked to see the diagnosis which is attached all $195 worth and none of those codes indicate a mechanical problem with a transmission. I called up there to figure out why are they recommended a transmission and the guy that has been there "for 17 years" was the one that diagnosed it but wasn't in. I was assured that he knows what he's doing because he never has anyone come back. Well guess what? When you recommend all new parts it's hard for things to not work after that.
So after clearing the codes the transmission drives just fine. It did have an intermittently bad TIPM which is common with these cars and was able to get a used one on eBay for $80. It's been a month now and Grandma is back on the road and been driving the car every day
TLDR This place takes advantage of older people and probably all people. They stole $195 from an old woman and then tried to charge her $4600 for a repair that's she didn't need.

Normally I don't leave reviews on Google let alone negative ones. But I have seen some of the reviews in the last month or 2 and I have to share my experience as well. First thing I want to say is that Brandon (the manager) is an extremely nice guy. But my experience with the shop has been extremely poor. I dropped off my truck on December 18th off the recommendation of another shop due to transmission issues. I received a call 2 days later telling me that it was not a transmission issue and that it was an issue with the engine and timing chain. Now I was told that they should have the chain in hopefully by that weekend and have the vehicle fixed by the middle of the following week which would be a few days after Christmas. I called the shop on the 28th inquiring about an update since no one called me And was told that shipping is slow due to the holidays but that it should be there that week. I understood and told them no problem I can wait a few more days. I called them once again On January 3rd for another update in which I was told that the part should be in the next day or the day after and that hopefully it will be done by the fifth or the middle of the next week. I once again called the store on the 10th since no one seems to call you if you don't call them. And was told that they were behind on some orders but they would have my truck up and ready and that hopefully it would be ready by the 12th or the following Monday which was Martin Luther king day. I know we got the big storm and cold weather in that weekend so I waited until monday the 15th to call. Once again I had to call myself and I did not receive a phone call and was told that they were still behind and that the truck would be up on the lift that day. This is now the fourth time I've been told that the truck would be ready within a few days. I called again on the 17th and was told once again that day it would be ready either that day or the next day. To my surprise I received a phone call on the 18th stating that the diagnostic that I paid $220 for had been incorrect initially and that it WAS a transmission issue and not an issue with the timing chain. And that if I wanted it fixed it would be another five to six days. So I grabbed my vehicle and brought it back home. So long story short my truck had been at the shop for over a month At which time it was incorrectly diagnosed and I ended up waiting 3 weeks for a part I did not need. During that time I was told multiple times that the truck would be ready in a few days which it clearly wasn't. I understand things happen employees leave, weather happens but simple communication could go a long way. I try to be an understanding person especially during holidays but looking at some of the other reviews that were left recently this might be a reoccurring problem. Only reason I'm leaving a 2 star review was that the store manager Brandon was a nice guy at least.
** follow up**
So I just wanted to follow-up and say that Chad who has responded to all of the other reviews sent me an email about wanting to turn my experience around. He apologized for the issue at this store and offered me a full refund for my diagnostic which I received. Chad was polite and apologetic and did seem to genuinely care about the negative experience i had. So for that I appreciate his efforts and give him a 5 star review .

Worst consumer experience in my life. I took the car in for a bad slave cylinder late 2021 and they had it over a month. They recommended replacing the clutch even though it worked fine. I relented figuring they knew more than I did. About 10,000 miles later, that clutch fails. I take it in and the clutch is replaced again after several weeks again of the car sitting there. I was told the car would be ready so I paid someone to drive me down from Liberty. It was not so I had to pay again to be taken home. Finally I was told it was done. I paid for a ride again and when I got there I couldn't get my car into gear. An employee of the shop entertained my ride as he climbed into the car and began to wrench the shift back and forth making me worry he was going to break off the shifter. He said it should be good now, but as I took off I noticed what I thought was tire noise. I took it to another shop for a possible alignment and was told it was not an alignment issue. I reversed the tires to see if the noise was due to a backwards radial but it didn't get better. Weeks later the clutch begin to slip yet again. I took the car back in to see if the shop would stand behind their work but instead the said the rear main was leaking causing the clutch to fail (they should have seen this the first time!). I didn't believe them as well as they both wheel hubs failed at the exact same time. I don't have any oil on my driveway so that appeared to me to be a lie. The next day I was forced to go on my trip out west with a mildly slipping clutch and wheel noise. When I got an oil change in Colorado I noticed on their invoice they added at least (and probably more) 13,000 miles to the odometer reading on their invoice... another lie. Eventually clutch and wheel noise got worse and I took it to another transmission shop. The found a missing nut on the slave cylinder, a loose bell housing bolt and a high clutch release. After telling the to check for a leaking rear main and wheel issues they found no such thing contrary to what this shop told me. I greatly regret taking my car here as it was one of the worst mistakes of my life.

This place is horrible took my car for a transmission issue and just keep getting the run around. They were suppose to fix the transmission and than they only have one person working on it who doesn't show up to work for a couple of days. They have had my car for 3 weeks and it's still not done. They didn't offer me a different solution on transportation for my family and I keep getting different stories of when it will be done. They say that it will be done by this a certain day and than they come back with well its not gonna be done when we told you it would be maybe you shouldn't tell people it's gonna be done by a certain day and than not have them there car back by that day

I took my truck Aamco Transmission & Total Car Care in Independence on December 1st after being told they would look at it for free which turned out to be a lie because they just wave the diagnostic fee if you get the service/repairs done at their shop. Whoever was working that night closed the shop 45 minutes early so I had to just drop it and leave it and hope that it wouldn't get stolen or towed before they even knew it was there. And then they proceeded to keep the truck for 28 days. I just got it back today, after they told me they would get it into the shop within a few days and wouldn't take more than a couple weeks to fix it.Brandon (their service advisor) lied to me all week about it starting Friday December 22nd telling me it was back together they were just waiting for diagnostic codes to come back from dodge so they could reprogram it and make it shift right. It wasn't until yesterday December 27th that I got a hold of someone else (who just happened to be an area manager) who told me that the transmission was sitting on a jack waiting to go back in and would be done last night. I went to get it last night and they then told me that it had been broken into in their parking lot and they would have to replace the ignition due to it being drilled out and it would be done this afternoon. There was no damage to my door locks or broken glass, it was broken into because they didn't lock my doors.I went back this afternoon to get it and they refused to discount it more than $200 (which is a slap in the face compared to the original $4,700 price) despite the bold faced lies, the vandalism, and the fact they took twice as long as I was told they would take to fix it.And then I drive it home and it still isn't even fixed the transmission is not shifting how it should and it has absolutely no power on take off. after paying $4,500 to fix it and they didn't do it right. And they claim to be transmission experts...

Took my car for a transmission replacement, when i picked the car up there was black grease smears all over the inside head liner above the drivers seat. When I asked about this the General Manager Darell said, we don't take transmissions out from in the car so it wasn't our fault. Said it looked like smears from little fingers, there have been no little finger kids in the car and was clean when it was left for repairs. They have lousy customer service and dont act like they know what they are doing.

This place was a rip off! They charged me 70 bucks to tell me things that they couldn't even spit out! He couldn't even hardly describe to me why I needed what I needed for my car which isn't what I need at all! Then I was told it was $59 for them to look at it if I wasn't going to have it repaired there I was never told to leave my car there I was never told I would have to leave my car there I was never told any of that they did not say anything about anything. When the guy looked at my car he had the lady behind the counter come get in my car and they were in the garage bickering because she didn't know what she was supposed to do while he was telling her what to do and rolling her eyes and walking around my car as if neither one of them knew what they were doing inside the establishment they were at! I would never recommend taking your vehicle to this place not to mention they were very rude and hateful

They have had my car for almost 2 weeks. Can't figure out what's wrong with it. They say they've gotten forward involved but I don't see any results. Whathowever I asked them to provide me with a rental just for the holiday weekend for Thanksgiving and actually. I only need it Wednesday night and Thursday and i'd be returning it. They refuse to do that even though this inconvenience was completely their issue. Avoid this place at all cost. All they have done is throw parts at it to see if they can get it to fix. They're diagnostic skills are horrible and do not have the ability. To diagnose accurately the problem of the car.Services: Tires

Worst experience ever! And maybe you should lock up the cars at night so no one could go through my car at night! Place is a joke
